DAZ
DILLINGER
(Delmar
Arnaud)
Grew
up in Long Beach with his cousin Snoop Dogg. He debuted on Dre's
infamous Chronic album and made many appearances on Snoop's Doggystyle
album as well, including on hit songs such as "Doggy Dogg
World" and "Gin & Juice." He was introduced to Death
Row, and soon became one of the label's premiere producers. Previously
known as Dat Nigga Daz, he teamed with Kurupt to form Tha Dogg Pound.
The duo's first release came in 1995 and was entitled Dogg Food. The
album went double platinum, and Daz, with newfound credibility and
skills, turned again to producing. In 1996 when Dre left Death Row, Daz
pledged to keep the label's unparalleled style the best in the world. He
made good on that statement, churning out albums such as 2Pac's All Eyez
On Me and Snoop's Tha Doggfather.
Daz
and Kurupt did some tracks without each other, and in 1998 Daz released
his first solo album entitled Retaliation, Revenge and Get Back. The
album had many cameo performances, including Snoop, 2Pac, Kurupt, Nate
Dogg, and Tray Deee. The success of the album made it clear that Gangsta
Rap still had a major influence in the world of Hip Hop.
