DOGGY'S
ANGELS
The
second release from Snoop's Dogghouse Records label will be from
his newly formed female trio Doggy's Angels. The group is comprised
of Big Chan, Coniyac, and Kola. Prior to joining Doggy's Angels,
Coniyac and Kola were part of a local female Rap group based in
South Central LA. One of the producers they were working with knew
Snoop, and he eventually passed some of the duo's songs on to
Snoop. At the time, Snoop was already planning on signing Big Chan,
and auditions were being held to complete the group. Coniyac and
Kola were invited to audition, a tense process Kola describes as
"cutthroat," and the next day they received a phone call
from Snoop inviting them back.
Once
chosen, the newly formed trio connected instantly. They began
recording songs, and it was quickly apparent that the three ladies
possessed an intense chemistry. Their Dogghouse/TVT self-titled
debut album is set to hit stores in late October. The album
contains production elements from some of the west coast's finest,
including Battlecat, Meech Wells, Fredwreck, and JellyRoll. They
have asserted their independence from Snoop on the album as well by
writing their own lyrics and recording several songs outside of
Snoop's studio presence. Doggy's Angels' debut single, "Baby
If You're Ready," is set to drop on September 26th.
