Stanley Moraniec possessed an honesty and charm that endeared him to others and helped him become a top salesman for his company.

"People trusted him because he was a man of incredible integrity," said his wife, Rita Moraniec. "He sold himself first, and then he sold the product, and that is the mark of a great salesman."

As an account executive in marketing and sales with Data Pathing for more than 15 years, he was consistently the company's leading computer salesman in the region. Mr. Moraniec died of cancer Feb. 24 at his home in Bloomfield Hills, after battling the effects of a brain tumor for nearly a year and a half. He was 69.

A native of Detroit, Mr. Moraniec graduated from Fordson High School in Dearborn in 1956. He attended Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., where he earned a degree in hotel and business administration in 1959.

After serving in the Navy for four years he returned to the area in 1964 and worked with Honeywell Corp. in computer sales for several years.

He left Honeywell to join Data Pathing. He also worked for other computer companies, including Lee Data and Data General. He retired in 2000 and managed the driving range at Oakland Hills Country Club for several years.

In addition to his wife, survivors include sons Marc and Martin; daughters Michele Pischea, Meghan and Melanie; a brother; two sisters; three grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren.

There will be a viewing today at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 4300 Walnut Lake Road, West Bloomfield. Burial will be in St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights.
