Cathy is a Mental Health Administrator and Therapist and enjoys travel, reading, and landscaping/gardening. "During the past 4-5 years my life revolved around getting our land ready for building, and then building our dream home on 157 beautiful wooded acres. We actually did most of the building (including designing) ourselves. I've learned many new skills, including electrical wiring, carpentry, plumbing, interior decorating, etc. I have my own toolbelt and toolbox complete with my own set of tools, and I get very picky if someone else uses my hammer and doesn't replace it! We still have much landscaping to do, hence my current interest in that. The past year has been focused on work at Southern Illinois Regional Social Services. Usually I am the Program Director for the Crisis Management and Assessment Program. This year I volunteered to take on another (basically full-time) position managing our agency's efforts to be accredited by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The surveyors are coming in September. Getting a staff of about 150 trained and ready while cleaning up all the policies and procedures, and implementing new processes has been a real experience. My work motto is 'Where else could I have this much fun and get paid for it too!'."

She is also involved in a church restoration project and spends a lot of time with her family. "I kept picking this survey up time and time again, all along thinking I must write about all my accomplishments. All the while beating myself up because I didn't really have any to talk about. When suddenly I realized what was right in front of my face all along. I have actually had great accomplishments and wealth in my lifetime. We have raised three happy and healthy children. We have managed to beat the odds and have a happy marriage for twenty-two years. I have lots of friends and most of them I have had since school days. I am fortunate to still have my mom and dad alive and healthy. I survived a serious illness four years ago that totally changed my life and my family. We have survived. These are the true successes in my life."

"We moved to Foley, AL, which is 705 miles due south of Du Quoin about 4 years ago, where we built a 4 bedroom Creole style, 2 story home, located in a 3 acre estate lot, overlooking Wolf Bay, about 7 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. We opened 1 tax preparation office in Foley, and since that time we have built our business into a 12 office network, with office throughout Baldwin, Houston, Dale, and Coffee Counties, with covers an area from Southeast of Mobile to the Georgia state line. These offices also provide Accounting, Payroll, and SBA Loan Consulting/ Preparation services. The offices are designed for electronic transfer of tax data, and are connected by an intranet system internally, and the Internet externally. My primary duties include the electronic processing of tax returns and operating the intranet and Internet connections.
