Magickal Mirror

Here are some interesting pages we have come across whilst exploring the wilderness that is the Net:

If you think that the nukes are a dark shadow from the past, gone with the end of the Cold War, think again:
they are back. With Republicans in power, the US is building a missile system known as 'the son of Star Wars', that will start a new nuclear arms race. Medical students across Canada representing International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War [IPPNW] are asking everyone to take a bit of time to visit their site, where you can send a fax to Canada's Foreign Minister and learn more on how you can help stop nuclear Armageddon. Bombs Away

For those readers who are tired of the Goddess being stereotyped as a sweet, ineffectual Barbie doll, have we got a site for you! Robin M. Weare, a Californian journalist, environmentalist and all-around hell-raiser has created a site dedicated to the aspects of the Goddess as a warrior, guardian and avenger, the righter of wrongs and the protector of the vulnerable. Energies personified by Kali, Hecate, Artemis, Hel & Gorgon are all represented and showcased here. Ms.Weare is one woman who is not afraid to call herself a feminist! Here are Robin's thoughts on this: "If Wicca and Neo-Paganism are to be any more realistic and beneficial than Christianity, they must face the facts of death, destruction and fear frankly. They must have symbols of the fact that dreadful things happen, even to good people, and that, though we work to minimize it, we must learn to accept the darkness as part of life, just as want to accept joy and life itself". Please take a good look at these well-researched and beautifully-written pages, you'll be richly rewarded! As Starhawk put it her book Dreaming the Dark: "Beware of organizations that proclaim their devotion to the light without embracing, bowing to the dark; for when they idealize half the world, they must devalue the rest". Dark Goddesses

The following page is a veritable clearing-house of the burgeoning Gothic Movement in Russia and other parts of Eastern Europe. An absolutely amazing site, has links to webpages covering a great many topics, ranging from Gnosticism to Dragon Lore to Vampirism, Necrophilia, Ancient Egyptian history and religion, Gothic metal music, et al. Showcases visual arts, poetry, Russian and other cultures' literature and so much more. American author Anne Rice and the Swiss artist H.R.Giger (our personal favourite) are mentioned as well, not surprisingly. But be warned: it helps to be proficient in the Russian language to enjoy these pages. Russian Gothic Banner Exchange
