Andrew James

Andrew obtained his medical degree from the University of Auckland, and completed his paediatric residency in Auckland, New Zealand.  He held a fellowship in neonatology at National Womens' Hospital, Auckland before completing his training in neonatology at The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada.  Andrew is the Associate Clinical Director, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The Hospital for Sick Children, the Chief Medical Editor, AboutKidsHealth, and an Associate Professor, Department of Paediatrics, University of Toronto.

Andrew completed his graduate studies in biomedical informatics as a distant learning student of the Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, Oregon.  He has also obtained the Certificate in Continuing Studies in E-Learning, School of Continuing Studies, University of Toronto.

Andrew's interests in biomedical informatics include the visual design and display of information, the electronic medical record, clinical decision support, knowledge representation, and the information needs of parents.  Andrew's research focuses on the utility of SNOMED CT for the representation of the clinical care of the newborn infant.
