P.A.R!

"Imagination is the one weapon in the war against reality."
Jules de Gaultier

"I believe in looking reality straight in the eye and denying it."
Garrison Keillor

"Reality is something you rise above."
Liza Minnelli

Welcome, welcomce, dear friends, to the official site of P.A.R. Let me explain to you just what P.A.R. is. It is an organization that I have created, based on a title that I somewhat stole from a friend. P.A.R. stands for "People Against Reality," and is simply that.
It has come to my attention that this thing that people call "reality" is an evil thing that does nothing more that ruin the lives of good people. The goal of P.A.R. is to bring people out of the evil reality, and show them the wonder of having their own reality or "New Reality" which will be of each person's making.

And what, exactly, does P.A.R do? Well, as I have explained, we intend to pull people out of the awful reality of the world, and there are many many ways that a person can escape reality. Mostly, it involves a person being creative and imaginative, but if you're just not that kind of person, don't worry, P.A.R. will not let you down! Immersing yourself in anything that alters your reality is a way of entering P.A.R. including shows, movies, and books. They may be of other people's imaginations, but they can make the reality that we experience shift to become something new and something which is far more livable and enjoyable!

Original Mission Statement

(pre-web-site)

I have decided to form a new organization,
the idea for which I stole from a friend
(;) Eric) This organization will be called PAR,
or People Against Reality, the main goal of which,
is to completely eradicate the boring,
monatanous and evil thing called "reality"
and bring about what I happily call, The New Reality.
WHO'S WITH ME?

This is a quick sketch that I did. I will eventually turn it into a full picture and make it the main picture for this page, but it's not done yet...

P.A.R. is a relatively new organization, so at the moment, it is still trying to get itself sorted out. Still, we do have a few guidelines...
- Submerging into the "New Reality" is not simply a means of escape (althout it defenitely can be that when it needs to be) it is also a means of relaxation, enjoyment, a way of life...
- This is not to say that the old reality is to be cast off completely just yet. There are certain things that one must return to the "Real" world to do, work being one good example. Don't shirk your duties, simply do them knowing that you have a better reality to go home to.
- P.A.R. was created for the benefit of all people. There is no excuse for harming anyone else in anyway, physically, verbally, emotionally, ect... Ruining someone else's world to help your own is grounds for removal from P.A.R. We want everyone to be happy! :)

Dragonsong12's Thoughts

I am the one who began this organization P.A.R. I cannot say for sure what caused the other members to join, whether the lure of a reality-free world, or because they truly beleive in this just cause, but for myself, I think it is a tale that warrents relating. The idea for this was presented to me months before I ever thought to begin this group. I was feeling very depressed one night, and a very good friend, Maria Lewis, was talking to me. She told me something that another friend had told her long ago, that everything in life was a choice. Depression is a choice, fear is a choice, happiness is a choice. I remember that I was very angry with her at the time. After all, the suggestion that depression was a choice seemed to say that I was only depressed because I wanted to be, but if I could choose not to be unhappy, I would, wouldn't I? I didn't think she was right at the time, but as the weeks passed I couldn't forget that advice, and eventually I came to the realization that she was right. Strange as it may sound, when I was unhappy, I found that I didn't have to be. To use the line that I used (a warped version of a VERY similar line from Office Space) "I decided that I don't like being unhappy...so I'm not going to do it anymore."
It was right around the time that I came to this conclusion that madness struck all around me. By then, I was more than a little tired of all the bad things that were happening to me and around me, to my friends, and in my environment, so I ignored it. Rather than become involved, I went and watched a movie by myself. Getting involved, I knew, would not make me happy, and I had gotten used to happiness after understanding Maria's advice. It was by avoiding reality that I was at last able to save my sanity. It worked so well, and I saw what reality was doing to all my friends, it made me sad, so i began an organization. People Against Reality. An organization through which I could show other people how to live happy lives outside the realm of "real life." I could help them leave reality behind, and in turn, they inadvertently helped me to do the same. Since P.A.R. began, my life has been happy, despite everything that has happened.
It took me a long time to fully understand what Maria had told me, and how I could use that to always be happy. I do not expect people to embrace P.A.R. overnight, or even at all. This organization is here to help everyone. And there you have my perspective on it.
