James and Drac agreed to meet with James' parents. The two went with their Digimon, Clip, Nejmamon, Will, and Groulmon. They were to continue their work there.<
When they get there, questions are asked, and we find that there is a big secret covering what happened fourteen years ago.
Wonder why all the secrecy.
Kat found out that the computer keeping her captive is really Gennai.
When she learns Gennai went against the World of Light's wishes, in general, by asking the World of Darkness to join them, she is both amazed and angry. Her mood isn't improved when she finds that the Princess of Darkness is going to stay with her!
What is this seventeen year old girl going to be like?
Digimon Watchers: The Last Adventure?
The Princess of Darkness sat in her fold-away chair in her bedroom. Her hair brushed her shoulders and was a deep brown in color. She wore a black leotard, like that of her people, and black leggings to match. Black slippers covered her small feet. Two rubys hung from each earlobe and her lips were painted to match. Her skin tone was bleach white, making her seem a ghost in her dark surroundings. Her long fingers were ended by long nails, painted in black. Her eyes matched that of a stormy sea at dusk and had eye shadow of a deep blue. A silver crown topped her head, allowing a thin lock of hair to slip across one eye.
The only way to explain the look on the seventeen-year-old's face, was bored. A knock on the door brought her from her boredom, quickly. She sat up in her chair, taking on the look of a true princess, not just a city-street-girl who was allowed the chair of the princess. "Come in." She called, her voice holding the thick accent that she had picked up over her fourteen years at the palace.
A young girl, about fifteen poked her head into the darkened room. Her jet-black hair fell to her waist and her clothes were the same as those her princess, and best friend, wore. Her face was darker than the older girl and she wore no jewelry, make-up, or crown. Her larger feet were bare and callused. A smile, more real than the one the princess wore, flitted across her soft face. "You and I both know I hate bringing bad news ta ya, my lady, but I've got some for ya now." Her voice was softer than the princess' and held no accent.
The princess sighed. "It's okay. Come in and tell me what you will, Traina. At least it will be something to do." Her voice lost the accent in the presence of her best, and only, friend.
Traina stepped into the dark room and closed the door behind her. "My lord wishes to speak to ya, princess. I think ya oughta go visit him in those huge rooms of his." In all the years the two girls had been friends, not once had the princess given her birth name. Even from her best friend it was hidden. The king had never asked, so didn't know either.
*Might as well go now.* The girl thought to herself. As she stood, Traina ran to get the thin cloak the princess had to wear about the palace. "Traina! I don't need help getting dressed!" The older girl cried.
Traina shook her head as she placed the cloak about her friend's shoulders. "And we both know I'm to help you, whatever you do or don't need." Traina giggled at the look on the older girl's face.
"And I don't give." The princess grumbled as Traina led her to the door. As the two stepped outside the room their friendly faces disappeared to be replaced by those of pain and annoyance, Traina, and anger, the princess. They played roles outside of their friendship. They were just the princess, angry at being bothered, and the servant, annoyed at having to do this job and hurt because she wasn't respected. Many of the palace servants knew otherwise, mostly the two girls' friends, and would smile at the sight of the two.
Upon reaching the room, Traina disappeared down the hall and the guard at the door let the princess in. "Her Highness, the Princess, here to see you sire!" The guard called before letting the girl in. He was a friend and sent her a wink for good luck as she stepped in. A small smile forming on her thin lips told him she thanked him for the kindness. The smile was soon gone and one had to know where and when to look to find it.
"Ah! My young Princess! Come in dear girl! Come in!" The king cried, sending the girl attending him scurrying out the door. He stood and embraced the agrivated princess, then pushed her to the chair he had waiting for her. He sat on the bed.
"Sire, you called me..." The girl started, answering his blank look, her voice carrying the accent once again.
"Of course! I knew there had to be a reason you were here! Just had to think!" The king covered.
*Yeah, we know. The king has no memory, except for all the girls he's used as his play toys!* The princess thought hotly. Her face stayed calm, her voice even. "And I was needed for..."
The king's face went sour. "I got a call from an old friend of mine. Sorry, ex-friend of mine."
"Sir?"
"Gennai."
The princess reacted by jumping in surprise, but keeping her face the same calm as always. "Gennai, sir?"
The king glared at the girl before him. "Gennai. Ruler of the Digital World."
"My... What did he want from my lord?" The princess' calm face seemed to be annoying the king. If she noticed, she didn't care.
"He wants us to join their council of worlds. Each world is aging faster then it should be. They are all worried."
"Our world is going through some strange changes too, my lord."
"Do you enjoy pissing me off?!" The king exploded suddenly.
"I didn't know I was, sire. What was I doing wrong? If you inform me, I'll fix it for you." The princess offered calmly.
"Stop acting so damned calm all the time! It has become annoying!"
"How would you like me to act, my lord?"
The king's face was turning an even purple. "I'm sending you to Gennai, just to be rid of you! Maybe you'll learn manners there!" He shouted.
"Shall I pack now?"
"Get out!!" He shouted, pointing to the door.
The girl came out to a giggling crowd of friends. The princess was the only one who could piss off the king like that and live to tell about it. "I'm going to the Digital World you guys." She whispered to the crowd. The smiles turned to frowns and some crying was heard.
"But my lady, what if we never hear of you again?" One boy asked.
The princess smiled sadly. "You will. I'll make sure of that! I can tell you what it's like on the other worlds!" Some nodded, others just cried.
All scrambled at the shout from the king's chambers. "I'm hungry!"
The princess and Traina ran down the hall to the princess' room. They laughed slightly as they dropped on the bed. Then Traina looked sadly at her friend. "I'll never see you again." It was true. Traina was only allowed to stay because of the princess' wishes.
"I'll find a way to bring you with me, then. I'll have someone I trust, and you won't have to leave the palace."
"I guess you're right. You'd better start packing. He'll call back soon, knowing him." Traina said, tears of gratitude shone in her soft brown eyes.
"Yeah. And then, maybe I'll find Catmon. I really want to meet her." Catmon was the princess' Digimon. She had contacted the princess about five years ago. She was a white kitten of about four months with black eyes and gold pupils laced with silver.
"I wishI had a Digimon." Traina whispered.
The princess threw an arm around her friend's shoulders. "I'm sure you do, she just hasn't poked her head up, yet." Traina smiled and nodded. The two girls got to work throwing the princess' thing together.
:~:
When they were done, they set to work on Traina's things. half way through Traina's bag, the king called on the small wall screen. The princess turned it on. "My lord?"
"Gennai is sending a Digimon/humon by the name of Rosemon/Mimi to meet us in an hour. Be ready."
"Sire!" The man looked up. "May I bring one of my servants?"
The king sighed. "Which one?"
"My servant."
"The girl you keep getting me to let stay?" The girl nodded. "Take her. I've no use for her." The screen faded to black and the two girls cheered.
"I'm going with you!" Traina cried happily.
"And I'll be out of his reach, with my best friend!" The princess added. The two danced around the room.
:~:
An hour later found the king and the two girls standing on the roof of the palace, the princess in her normal clothes, Traina wearing shoes with her normal clothes. The princess had argued the case of Traina wearing shoes with the king, and had won, so her friend wasn't going barefoot.
The clouds parted for a second, and they saw a human shaped being with a rose on her head fly towards them. She landed before them and looked at the king in disgust. She shoot a look at the two girls at his side. She sighed and smiled. "Girls, come on. I've got to be back. I have work to do." The two girls stepped toward her.
Then the king reached out and pulled the princess back. "You will address her as 'Your Highness' or 'Princess of Darkness.' If you don't, she's staying!" He told the womon.
"I will do only what she says, you aren't going, she is. I don't take orders from pigs like you, only from people I've got to work with, and then rarely. I will only call her what she wants, nothing more, nothing, less." Rosemon shot back at him. He glared at her, but let go and said nothing else as the two girls jumped in the basket meant for them and were borne into the sky.
"Thanks! I thought I was going to have to stay there!" The princess called to their hostess.
The Digimon smiled. "You're very welcome! I hate men like that! What do you want me to call you, Princess?"
"I don't really care. Just 'Princess' is fine. It's become my name after all these years as it is! Might as well stick with it!" She called back. Rosemon nodded and said nothing else, just allowing the two to enjoy the sky above the clouds.
:~Digital World~:
They landed softly in the green grass of the Digital World. The princess surveyed the area with silver eyes. She had long know that her eyes changed colors. They hadn't changed too often in the World of Darkness. When they had, they were dull colors. Traina grinned when she saw the color of the girl's eyes. "They're silver, Princess."
The princess looked up at her. "Silver... Not stormy sea blue, or stormcloud gray? Not even black? They're silver." She spoke as if in a dream. "I know this place..." The others hadn't heard the last phrase for a group of people headed towards them, Gennai in the lead.
"You two will be staying in the real world with Katrania-kun. She will provide you with any information you may need when there. Rosemon-san, your group awaits you. Go." The Digimon nodded and flew away. Gennai surveyed the two girls before him. "Come on you two. I'll send you on your way."
As they started off, the princess ran up to Gennai. "Mr. Gennai..."
Gennai cut her off. "Just, Gennai is fine, Princess."
"Gennai, then. I thought we were staying in the Digital World." Her crown fell across her face and she pulled it off angrily.
Gennai smiled. "You would've, but you don't have Digimon, so won't be of much use here. Katrania-kun will no doubt find a use for you."
"Gennai, I do have a Digimon! I just don't know where she is!" The princess cried.
Gennai stopped and stared at her. "Only people from the real world and the Digital World can have Digimon, Princess."
"Her name's Catmon! She e-mailed me about five years ago!" The princess defended her Digimon.
*That's about the time Kat-kun got Katmon-kun! Could she be... Impossible!* Gennai thought. "What's your full name, Princess?"
The princess shrugged. "I've no clue. I was left in the street at the age of three when my parents were fleeing the city, though I don't know why."
"Change of plans. We're going to my home and inviting some friends over." Gennai growled and led the girls in a different direction.
:~:
Gennai had left the two girls with food in the main room of his small, underwater house. He had gone to a different room and told them to stay put. Traina was quickly stuffing food into her mouth. The princess just sat there. "Her eyes were black and gold, striked with silver. My eyes are silver." The princess was mumbling.
A small cry from the other side of the room saw the very Digimon the princess had continued to insist she had, throw herself on her human. "Melanie! I thought I'd never see you!"
"And all I could do was Hope to see you!" Melanie, for that was the lost name of the Princess of Darkness, cried.
"Someone please explain why she has my face, looks... Everything!" Katrania called from the doorway. Her older brother, Dracel, grinned, putting his hand on her shoulder.
James smiled sadly. "Because, Kat, Mel," Both girls looked up at their nicknames. "you're twins."
"WHAT??!!" The two cried in unison. Their cat Digimon smiled at one another.
"Dad, why didn't you tell Kat this story years ago?" Drac grumbled.
"Because, as I remember, I couldn't." James told the young man.
"You could've told her when you told me."
"You wanted to explain it to her when she was at that stage?!"
"Never mind."
"That's what I thought." James looked back at the twins, who were circling and poking at each other.
"Don't poke me, Katty!" Melanie cried.
"Don't call me Katty, Mel-chan!" Kat shot back.
"Speak to me in a language I understand, Kat!"
"You can understand Japanese, if you try! And most of that was English, Mel!"
"I don't like you anymore!" Mel turned away from her lighter twin.
"Spoiled princess!" Kat called.
Mel turned to gare at her sister. "I'm not spoiled! Take that back!"
"Nai!" Kat said.
"Kat!" Mel whined.
"Mel!" Kat replied.
"Shut up!" Drac shouted at the two girls. He turned back to his father. "Would it have helped any if Kat had known about his before?"
"Doubt it." James replied.
"Oh Drac." The twins called, sweetly.
"Oh no. I don't like that tone in their voices." Drac mumbled, backing away from the two.
"Don't ever interrupt us when we're arguing!" They shouted at him.
Mel and Kat then looked at each other. "I guess you'll do." Kat said, smiling.
Mel smiled too. "Yeah, you'll do too." They hugged and Mel looked at Traina, who hadn't said a word. She pulled her friend to her feet. "Kat, this is my best friend, Traina. Triana, this is my sister, Kat."
Kat smiled and gave the surprised girl a hug. "It's nice ta meet ya, Traina. Any friend of Mel's is a friend o' mine!"
"Nice to meet you too, Kat." Traina said softly.
Mel watched her friend. "What's wrong, Traina?"
"You got your family back and you have a Digimon. I don't have anything." The younger girl sat down on the sofa.
Kat looked at the pained face of her twin. "What's she mean by that?"
"Traina's father was beaten to death by the king. Her mother died giving birth to her little brother, who died two days later. I was the only person who really wanted her around. Now I've got my family back, and she feels she lost me, right Traina?" Mel sat down next to her long-time friend.
"Yeah." Traina croaked, then she burst into tears.
Mel held her friend in a tight hug and rocked her back and forth gently. "You haven't lost me. You'll always be my best friend, Traina. You oughta know that." The younger girl looked up. "And I'm not letting you go back to the World of Darkness, just to be tossed back on the streets. You're staying with me." Mel glared at her father, as if daring him to refuse.
"Hey, no objection here!" James cried, holding up his hands in defeat.
Drac looked at the twins glaring at him, their Digimon adding to the affect. "I say this girl need a Digimon if she's gonna stay with us!" He cried.
The three girls and two Digimon laughed. Traina looked up at her new family. "Thanks." She whispered.
All nodded. Then the house shook and Gennai looked at the group around him. "Go through the portal! It'll be safer in the real world!" They nodded and raced to the computer. It was still locked onto the lab where Kat had been.
Kat, Sphinxmon, Drac, Draculunmon, James, and Midoki Betamon disappeared into the Digi Port. Gennai tossed the other two their D-3s and they found themselves in the lab.
