History 100
is the first part of a two-semester survey course on the history
of world civilizations. This sequence extends from pre-history and
the origins of civilization to the global encounter of societies
(15th-17th centuries) during the age of expansion. This course is
designed to offer the student a broad overview of civilization over
both time and space.

United States History 1607-1877 - A study of the political,
economic and social development of the United States from the Colonial
period to 1877 with an emphasis on the racial and ethnic diversity
that created a unique American culture (3 semester hours). No prerequisites.

COLONIAL LATIN AMERICA
This course traces the development of colonial Latin America from
its Native American, European, and African origins through the independence
movements of the early nineteenth century. (3 semester hours.)
Prerequisite: Junior or Senior classification.

SOC 101
This course introduces students
to common and divergent perspectives of the social sciences including
the general methods and special techniques used by social scientists
to acquire an understanding of how human beings behave. The primary
focus of the course is on the United States but the American experience
is placed within a global context
