Zurich Hotel Room in August
by me
I awoke in the confusion of the night
Laying face down on that bed
I could hear in the darkness
The sobs of a father gently tumble out

Lord Y'shua, you were there in that room
Or somewhere not distant looking down
From a purple sky or a crescent moon
In the unreality of my dreams

You took me to the Cape one autumn day
Just to spend time with mom and dad
When the insides of me were black
And the sand was cold and windswept

People use words every day
That they don't know the meaning of
I'm banking on a heaven I can only imagine
Is better than this place other people call home

I asked Sara what she wanted
And she told me "sincere"
But the girl knows no evil (she says)
Just like a man denies his shadow

When refreshing comes
I will drink ice water
Refreshing comes
And for once I'm not ugly

I disappear into myself
Exploding out toward the world
Take me anywhere you please
I will always remember that day
