| Chapter Three "Good morning" Kat said sleepily as she poured herself a cup of coffee. She quickly doctored it with milk and sugar and sat across the table from Kel. Kel watched her in amusement. Kat wasn't much of a morning person, and rarely said more than two words before she'd had her coffe. She waited while Kat sipped her coffee before asking, "How did it go last night?" Kat's face filled with a pink tint as she remembered the two kisses she and Howie shared. "That well huh?" Kel asked with a huge smile beaming across her face. "It was nice" Kat said slowly, not wanting to give to much away. "That's it? It was nice! Come on girl I want all the gory details" Kel said excitedly. Kat laughed at her friend and began to tell her all about last night. "We went out on the patio to get some air. It was really hot in the house last night, wasn't it?" she asked, knowing that she was driving Kel crazy. "KAT!" Kel yelled exasperated. Kat giggled. "A slow song came on and he kissed me" she whispered the last part as the feeling of his lips on her came back to her. "I don't even have to ask how it was, the look in your eyes says it all. What happened after you left?" "We went back to his place and talked about high school and all the crazy things we did, people we knew, ya know just stuff. Then he brought me home and kissed me good night. He said he'd see me tonight" Kat finished. "What? No hot monkey sex?" Kel asked with a disappointed look, broken only by the mischievous glint in her eyes. "You are absolutely incorigible" Kat screamed as she broke into a fit of giggles. "You know it! So are we still on for the spa'lon today" she asked as she took her cup to the sink and rinsed it out. "Oh yeah! A whole day of being pampered, and made to look beautiful. I wouldn't miss it for the world" Kat said as she followed suit, putting her cup in the sink. "I'm gonna go shower, I'll be down in a half hour" she said as she headed for the stairs. ~~~****~~~ They arrived at Mitchell's Spa'lon at ten and were promptly ushered in to begin their day of beauty treatments. They started with full body massages and then moved on to have manicures and pedicures. Lastly they had their hair and make-up done. They emerged from the Spa'lon feeling refreshed and looking for all the world like they were movie stars, in shorts and t-shirts of course! "We've got just enough time to grab a snack and then get home to dress" Kel said as they climbed into Kel's Lexus. "Sounds good. Where are we going?" Kat asked as she flipped on the air conditioner. "Let's go to Friday's" Kel said as she pulled out of the lot. Kat agreed and they headed to Friday's. An hour and a half later they were headed home to dress for the reunion. ~~~****~~~ "Bone, do I look okay?" Howie asked his best friend and bandmate. He was wearing a pair of black dress pants and a purple silk shirt. The suit coat lay across his bed. "Howie, I've never seen you so worked up. She must be really special to ruffle your feathers" AJ joked. Howie shot him a look and said, "Who said anything about a female? I just want to look nice. I haven't seen these people in ten years." "Exactly!" AJ said as if that should explian everything. Howie rolled his eyes, and tried to figure out where this conversation was going. "D, man all I'm saying is this, if there's not a female involved, you are going through a lot of trouble to look nice for people you haven't spoken to since graduation. Besides I know you better than that. You've been looking forward to this for the last couple of weeks. Your eyes shine when you talk about it- that tells me one thing, there's a woman involved somewhere. Oh and to answer your question, you look great!" Howie chuckled at his friends straight-forwardness. "Okay you win. Yes there is a woman involved. Her name is Katherine Warner and we were friends in school. I saw her last night at the party, and to be honest she took my breath away, just like she did in school." "Got a picture?" AJ asked, suddenly very curious about the woman named Katherine who held Howie's attention, maybe even his heart. Howie walked across the room and pulled his high school yearbook off the shelf. He flipped through the pages until he came to her class picture. "This is her" he said as he handed the book to AJ, his finger pointing to Kat's picture. "Wow! What a hottie" AJ exclaimed as he looked at her picture. "Yeah" Howie whispered as he remembered touching her skin and kissing her lips the night before. "D, don't worry about it. You look great, and if she's half the woman you claim she is, she's already under your spell" AJ said as he slapped his friend on the back. ~~~****~~~ Kelley stood in the doorway of Kat's room, admiring her friends ensamble for the night. The dress was deep purple and it fell to just below the knees, hugging her body in all the right places. The dress was backless, except for the ties that held it in place. Her hair was swept up, like the night before, leaving her graceful neck and toned shoulders bare. "Wow Kat. One look at you and Howie will be on the floor begging for that wild monkey sex!" Kel said as she stepped into the room. Kat stared at her reflection and asked self-consciously, "You don't think its too much?" Kel crossed the room and put her hands on her friends shoulders. "Kat, honey you look fabulous. There won't be a man there that doesn't wish you were the one on his arm." "But I only want one man on mine" Kat admitedly softly. "Let's get going. We don't want to be late" Kel said. Kat turned to her bed and picked up her clutch and a matching purple wrap. "Edgewater High here we come" she said as they left her room and headed down the stairs.
