Makai is my little ray of sunshine. He is my reason for waking each morning and going to bed each night. Although I have 2 other children, now aged 22 and 19. They have their own lives.
Makai was an unexpected surprise. When his Father and I found out, we planned to tell no-one till I was 3 months, to make sure all was well. After losing his brother, we wanted everything to be fine this time around.
At 9 weeks I collapsed from stomach pain. We thought we were loosing him. At the hospital they were not sure what was going on. They couldn't do an X-Ray due to being pregnant. They did an Ultra sound, but couldn't see to clearly. (A lot of this is a blur to me). They thought I had a problem with my bowls and I had to have key hole surgery. If they couldn't do key hole they would have to cut me open. We had no choice, but to agree to it, and hope all would be ok.
Unfortuantly, they had to cut me open, to fix a twisted bowl. We prayed for our baby.
When I came out of surgery I was on morphine and liquid diet. We requested an Ultra sound to make sure the baby was ok.
He was still fighting strong.
I was released from hospital after 7 days. Still on a limited diet. Just didn't feel like eating-everything tasted gross.
5 days later my stomach weeped and I was in agony again. We rushed back to the hospital and was re-admitted as my stomach was infected. Back to a very limited diet yet again. Had to have my stomach cleaned daily.
Was re-released again 5 days later, but had on going daily care for my stomach for weeks.
We organised regular Ultra sounds, as I never felt anything. We eventually told everyone. Alot of people were concerned, especially after what I had gone through.
The pregnancy seemed to go forever, I had little things happening to me all the time. We prayed at every check up and test. Everything seemed to be going fine.
His due date came and went. I couldn't take any more. I was tired, BIG and very uncomfortable.
I was told on my check up (7th Feb) if he didn't come, they would induce me the following week. When the 14th (Valentines Day) came I was looking forward to it. At the check up they wanted to send me home. But a nurse said "No", as I was carrying a lot of fluid, and was dilateing. They decided to do me later that day. I found out just before hand, that if my waters had broken his cord may have come out, and we could have lost him.
Well after a long day, and an even longer night my little Angel was born at 1.13am on the 15th. He was healthy and safe. And very beautiful.
