Dan Edward Venz currently lives in the Tokyo Bay Area of Japan with his wife and 2 children. He was born in 1966 and raised in San Diego, California. His father was a professional sportsman and his mother was a musician. As a child he loved sports, music and acting. Accustomed to city life and the beach, it came as a shock when his family moved across the United States to a small country town in Alabama when he was 15. His parents wanted him to experience a different type of life than the city had to offer.
In Alabama, he helped his parents take care of their 40 acre farm as well as build and manage a restaurant. In high school he played baseball, basketball and football as well as being in the school band, a member of the math club and writing for the school newspaper. He received a full performing arts scholarship when he was 17 but decided not to accept it because he did not want to go to university in Alabama.
He decided to leave home in search of himself. He lived in San Antonio Texas for 1 year where he attempted acting and music and after appearing on TV and being signed as a composer for Hollywood Artist, he moved to Tokyo, Japan to pursue knowledge in the breakthrough technology that was being used in recording music in Japan at the time. He released 2 single records in Japan as well as recording 4 albums over 10 years and still records music today. After setting up house in Japan, he became involved in Education and after holding several executive positions in the private education industry, became the Program Coordinator for Kanda University.
He spent 1999 - 2002 back in America, where he lived in Seattle, Washington. He became a Certified Tax Accountant in 2002 as well as graduating Northwestern State with an MA in Education. He worked as the Senior Account Manager for a financial company throughout his time back in America.
In 2002 he moved back to Japan with his wife and 2 children and became the Human Resources Director for a prominent English Through Drama Language Company. In 2004, he became the Managing Partner of Liberty Language Schools, went to cooking school to get his chef's certificate and also Founded Dream Academy Japan, a foundation which helps children build better relationships with their parents through non-profit events and activities.
Other than writing books and being an active member and volunteer in nine foundations, his main occupation is teaching as well as giving speeches and seminars about the importance of building better relationships between parents and their children in Japan. He is the chairman of the Dream Academy Japan Music Project as well as the architect for 9 regular events for children and their parents in the Tokyo Bay Area. He is also planning to open an international style restaruant and bar in Japan in 2010, in which he plans to give 10% of profit to the various foundations that he is a member of.
