Right now, we reside “on the cusp” of the New Age, but still very much within the grip of Pisces. Dependence on Piscean/Neptunian oil is an addiction that we must shake free from. We have most likely passed the “peak oil” point where supply will begin a down-slope.
In 1956, Dr. M. King Hubbert predicted U.S. oil production would peak sometime between 1965 and 1970. At the time everyone laughed at him, but his prediction came true... U.S. oil production peaked in 1971. Hubbert became a folk-hero…In 2001, using the exact same techniques Hubbert used to predict peak U.S. oil production in the 1950s, Professor Kenneth Deffeyes predicted global peak oil production would occur on December 16, 2005.
THE TRUTH is that experts are predicting a 10% drop in oil production by 2010. The oil supply will be roughly Half what it is now by 2035.

Being born in April of 1968, and therefore conceived during ?the Summer of Love?, in my youth I often wondered if I would ever come to live in times as exciting as those during which I gestated (The Uranus-Pluto conjunctions). In fact, during my college years I did indeed witness a similar surge in the development of human affairs with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the dissolution of Communist Europe (The Uranus-Neptune conjunctions). It was at this time that I became an astrologer.
As an astrologer, I have of course looked toward the next outer planet event. I have finally undertaken a thorough analysis of the Uranus-Pluto cycle and its coming square. I have dubbed these squares the ?Coming Storm? because it seems obvious to me that the conjunction that stirred up so much trouble in the modest sign of Virgo should certainly manifest some stormy weather when it opens to square in the cardinal signs of Aries and Capricorn. Then there is the fact that because of a peculiar ?co-incidence? of their retrograde motions there will be seven exact squares (that?s right seven!) spanning a period of nearly three years. Outer-planet alignments are rare enough and clearly this is not a ?garden ?variety? outer-planet event.
The most recent past Uranus-Pluto squares were 1932-34, and were also preceded by a prolonged Mars in Taurus transit, and a Jupiter/Uranus conjunction at the vernal point. This period of time saw some of the scariest events in modern history including the stock market crash, the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, and the rise of Nazi power. I will remind again that all three of these cycles are due to repeat in the next seven years ?in the same order. Mars will remain in Taurus until mid February 2006. The Jupiter/Uranus conjunction at 0 Aries is in 2010, and the Uranus/Pluto opening squares begin in 2012.
Ever since Pluto made the ingress to Sagittarius, all three trans-personal planets are occupying trans-personal signs. The focus has been on the Forest not the trees. This is a time of corporate scandal and regime change ?not a time of anything ?for the people.? After 2008, the Trans-personals line up in reverse order, occupying the last three signs of the Zodiac in a trans-personal crescendo. Uranus -"The Awakener" will rouse“The People” from their slumbers.The name ?Cardinal Climax? underscores the fact that unlike the grass roots movements of the 60?s under Uranus/Pluto in Virgo (a ?common? mutable sign) the paradigm shift under the Uranus/Pluto squares (2012-2015) is likely to start from the top-down as leadership imposes its will upon the people. We can expect that there will be a political backlash similar to the Yugoslavian/Serbian reaction under Uranus/Neptune in Capricorn (Uranus in Aries will square Pluto in Capricorn). The first rumblings may already have started with the indictment of Cheney?s top aide and Karl Rove still under investigation.
Out on the horizon is what some are calling ?the Cardinal Climax?[i] ?a planetary event involving 4 of 5 outer planets in a cardinal t-square (reminiscent of the early 1930?s). In 2010, Jupiter and Uranus in Aries will oppose Saturn in Libra and all will square Pluto in Capricorn.

Clearly this can be seen as the crescendo/culmination of a cosmic wake-up call to ?get it together? since the end of the Cold War era (at the Uranus/Neptune conjunctions) in the early 90?s. I see the period between 2008-2010 to be absolutely critical for the future of this nation and its people, and the 2008 election to be entirely crucial to who decides that future. Between 2008-2010 Uranus in Pisces and Pluto in Capricorn will shift the outer planetary balance to the feminine, receptive signs. If there is to be any relief from global strife it could be during this time.
The Uranus-Pluto opening squares will not actually occur until 2012-2015, yet both Jupiter and Saturn interactions with the forming square occur as early as the December 2007 Jupiter-Pluto conjunction. The Uranus-Pluto squares come within orb in 2009 while the N. Node enters Capricorn. Jupiter conjuncts Neptune 3 times in 2009: May 27, Jul 10, and Dec 21. This suggests issues of extremely high energy prices bursting the economic bubble.
The summer of 2010 will be tempestuous. Uranus enters Aries May 28 and Jupiter June 6. The two conjoin June 8 - at the Vernal point. Will this be a collective triumph for humankind such as an advance in energy and/or science ?or more wars? The midpoint of the Jupiter-Saturn cycle, the full phase, also occurs throughout 2010 and into early 2011. Their oppositions are directly tied into the Uranus-Pluto squares, creating a T-square of Jupiter/Uranus opposite Saturn -with Pluto as the focal point or squaring leg. Certainly we cannot expect much beneficial influence from Jupiter among this motley crew of malefics, and we can expect some action well before the Uranus-Pluto squares. When the Saturn-Uranus oppositions jump signs to Aries-Libra (Jul 26, 2010), this marks a clear departure from the previous similarity to the 60?s oppositions (in Pisces/Virgo). The 1921-4 transit of Saturn in Libra saw the march on Rome and rise to power of Mussolini, Stalin?s grab for power, Hitler?s ?beer hall putsch?, and the Ku Klux Klan movement?s second rise in the U.S.
Jupiter is in perihelion during 2011 after making his last conjunction to Uranus Jan. 4. Then, the North Node moves to Sagittarius and Neptune makes his ingress into Pisces. There is a brief flurry of activity around Jupiter as the personal planets congregate in Aries in late April. Once again, as Bob Dylan prophesied in 1963:
?Come gather round people, wherever you roam
And admit that the waters around you have grown,
And accept it that soon you?ll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you is worth saving,
Then you better start swimming or you?ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a? changing.?
So we see on the not-too-distant horizon the next major outer planetary event since the Uranus-Neptune conjunctions of the early 90?s ?the opening Uranus-Pluto square of 2012-2015. The main difference between the T-squares of 1930-31 is in the arrangement of the players. This time Pluto in Capricorn will be the squaring leg, rather than Uranus in Aries. This to me signifies a more secretive insidious enemy than Hitler, who was outspoken and brazen in his tactics. This represents terrorism being more organized than we had thought -through politically organized crime ?the Capricornian mafia and the insidious forces of the corporate giants and their all-out battle for economic power.
Yet, as surely as the very land was laid bare during Pluto in Cancer, these insidious forces will be laid bare and the ruin of their destructive practices brought glaringly into the light. The question is will we recognize it for what it is and heed the call to action? The ?crisis in action? of Uranus-Pluto will call for the rooting out of untruth, corruption, and perversion just as surely as it did during the ?crisis of consciousness?.
How can you serve to root out untruth, corruption, and perversion during the squares? Uranus is a planet of technology. So we must find a way of living which will richly reward development and use of alternative energies. Things like hybrid, bio-diesel, and SVO (straight veggie oil) cars, green building practices such as solar electricity, solar hot-water, water recycling and rain harvest technologies, composting, earth-shelter and other thermal mass building techniques such as straw bale and cordwood construction and Earthship biotecture–all these MUST be sought out and rewarded. It is simply not enough to say that doing them is its own reward. We are way too far gone on oil addiction for that. We must walk away from Oil, move Beyond Civilization, and refuse to deal with others who do not.
Far from strictly ?generational influences? these outer-planet energies can be very personal if involving rulers of Sun, Moon, Ascendant ?if Angular ?if aspected to personal planets- if singleton and/or solo retrograde planet ?or if planet is approaching station by progression. The squares will range from 7-15 degrees Aries/Capricorn, covering ¼ of the signs, so it is likely that nearly everyone will experience the transit to at least one planet ?so this means that everyone will be a player in how the Coming Storm turns out.
How can we explore the possible impact of the Coming Storm on our lives? By first consulting the classics Rules for Planetary Pictures, and The Combination of Stellar Influences we explore the basic planetary combinations that will be formed by the transiting squares. It should be pointed out that these texts were designed for use in mid-point analysis, but experience has proven that the interpretations serve as a good jumping off point for any combination of the planets. Of course one must first be aware of the natal condition -sign/house/aspects etc.
Uranus + Pluto + Sun = The man who suddenly changes his intake of food or his meals.[i]
This combination suggests that the issue of consumption will be important for the individual. Fasting may be required to break attachments. Certainly it is worth pointing out that we intake mental and spiritual food as well and the individual would do well to be conscious of and intake with intent. If this can be achieved there is great creative and leadership potential here.

The public manifestation of such energies may well be a blessing ?and one whose Moon is being contacted would do well to create channels of public action. Otherwise the emotional tension could be overwhelming and almost bi-polar in nature. If one is emotionally experienced and aware, this could be a great opportunity for plumbing the depths and experiencing catharsis.

I have also dubbed the squares ?the maturation of the summer of love.? Study non-violent reformers such as King and Ghandi. Never underestimate the power of a group to effect change ?you are the matriarch of these ?brothers in arms.?
Uranus + Pluto + Mercury = To quickly absorb new things. Sudden change of opinion and knowledge.[v]
Someone with this contact will likely set out to debunk Astrology or Peak Oil and be converted! Certainly this is good for research or study, however one will want to look to the Saturn contacts to solidify the quicksilver flashes of insight. Almost any and every form of communication will prove to be intense and transformative. Take a public speaking course and jot down those ideas!

This makes Uranus a fiery rather than airy planet. Incidentally the glyph for Uranus contains that of Mars ?the cross of matter above the circle of spirit. This tends to support the not uncommon view among some astrologers (including myself) that Uranus is a "higher octave" of Mars and exalted in Aries.
