Just A Child I walked down the hall and I happened to pass Room 114, Mrs. Roberts 2nd grade class. I peeped through the window and what did I see Young boys and girls, as busy as a bee. They were sitting in their desk, attention on their book They did not even know that I had stopped by to take a look. As I stood there I thought, in a few short years These young boys and girls will be Seniors. I wondered if their parents realized, how fast time would go Probably not, or they wouldn't be in such a hurry for them to grow. They would slow down and smell the flowers and enjoy their child And be very patient when they acted wild. They would punish, but always with love. And each day be thankful to God above. For this bundle of joy He brought in their life. And realize it is worth a small amount of strife. They wouldn't put their child under a strain By requiring him to be a genius, with an average brain. They wouldn't push him, to be an athlete When they know that he had, two "left feet". They would encourage him in all that he tried And let him know, they would always be on his side. When the years have passed quickly, almost fast as a blink They'd be happy if they taught him how, not what, to think. If young parents, had a crystal ball They might avoid, some of these pit falls. But God didn't choose to make perfect Moms and Dads He just decided to use those that he had. He gave them instructions, if only they'd look Some call it the bible and some the Good book. As I stand there I wonder, what would I see. If as a parent, I saw how my sons rated me. Charles Meadors |
