Ritual
again, he leaves
it's happening again
her face in an angry snarl,
then dissipates
into an expression
of hopelessness

cut to scene -2-

she stands in the bathroom,
naked
before the mirror
evaluating,
another use for a pretty pink toothbrush.
she grasp it,
knuckles white

sets up a bruised foot
on the toliet seat,
for support,
bends over

she can see her face
in the rippling water
inside the toliet bowl
no turning back now.

pushes the toothbrush
farther back into her throat-
over and over-

she watches in relief
as her sins
and pains
leaves her body.

the toilet flushes
over and over-
until it's all gone.
