Violence begets violence and solves nothing. Use it only in self-defense
and not as a solution.
THINK about what you're doing. Consider the consequences of your
actions.
Live and let live. Do not try to impose or mandate your morals, beliefs,
religion, tastes, opinions, ethics, lifestyle, or behaviors on others,
no matter how right you think you are or how wrong you think they are.
Don't say anything behind a person's back that you wouldn't be willing
to say to their face.
Neither government nor religion are the answer, though both are often the problem.
Keep your cool. Don't let your negative emotions get in control.
Learn to be patient and you will not be bothered by impatience.
Tradition is not a guarantee of righteousness. The world is dynamic
and changing, and some outmoded customs or beliefs just have to be let go.
Don't take away from me that which I earn, that which I own, or that which
I can do within others' rights.
Judge, don't prejudge. Avoid labels which only serve to categorize
people politically, racially, religiously, or in some other divisive way.
Knowledge truly is power. Learn and make something of your life.
Don't be afraid to run against society. Free thinkers often do.
Rebellion for its own sake is adolescent, but rebellion for a cause
can be just.
Keep an open mind. Try something new, be it a food or a music or
a new way of thinking.
Diversity in all its forms is an asset, not a liability.
Being a realist doesn't necessarily mean being a pessimist, or vice versa.
Take responsibility for your actions and beliefs; don't shirk responsibility
off or, worse, mandate it upon others.
Hate most often stems from oppression, ignorance, or violence. Remove
them and you will remove the hate.
Revel in life! Because existence is truly a most wonderful thing.
And finally, if at all possible, never check into a hospital with the word
"Memorial" in its name. :-)
