Entry-level position in computer-related work. I am looking for a long-term career with opportunities for advancement. Fields of interest include computer troubleshooting & repair, scanner-related graphics design, HTML, and Windows 95-ME. Relocation is a possibility, although Illinois is preferred.
Education:
• College: University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, 1989-95 and 1997. Have
completed my B.S. degree in ceramic engineering (available upon request),
with electives in materials science. Graduated with a semester GPA of 3.335/4.0.
• High school: Crete-Monee HS, Crete, IL, 1986-89. Designated an
Illinois State scholar (top 10% of high school seniors). Lettered
in track and math team. Member of National Honor Society.
• Am presently working toward a CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification.

shipment via UPS, USPS, FedEx, and Airborne; assisting other employees
with any work or environmental problems they may have; employee relocation;

• MetriTech Inc.,

scorer for math and science exams from Ohio and New York states. Duties
include individual scoring of state-level exams, transport of scored exams
to data entry, and providing guidance to other employees when they have
questions about interpretation of exam answers or procedures.
• U.S. Census Bureau, 125 W. Church St., Champaign, IL, 217-363-3830;
Mar. & Apr. 2000. Census enumeration
duties for the Champaign-Urbana and University of Illinois area. Working
as a team, we were responsible for the preparation, assembly, distribution,
collection, sorting, and error-correction for the 2000 Census forms and
related paperwork. Some travel was
necessary for training, as was a pleasant and knowledgeable demeanor when
meeting with Census form recipients.
• Ford Motor Co., Lincoln Hwy., Chicago Heights, IL, 708-756-6600;
Aug. 1995 to Sept. 1997. Automation
tender on Taurus/Sable hood assembly line. Worked
closely as a team to achieve becoming one of the first ISO-9000 certified
in-plant assembly lines and, later, the first certified Ford Stamping Plant
in all of North America. Emphasis
was placed on improving both quality and efficiency.
• Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, IL; Aug.-Dec. 1992. Worked
on a research project dealing with properties of superconducting YBCO materials. This
assignment required taking the initiative and rapid, independent learning
of the aspects of quality manufacturing and analysis to produce materials
of varying compositions. Gave two
presentations detailing the progress and results of my work.
Other Skills:
• Proficient on Macintosh, Windows, and UNIX-based systems. Assembled my computer from
individual component parts, including selection, installation, and troubleshooting. This
included designing the best computer possible for the desired applications within budget.
• Experience includes use of Excel, Word, WordPerfect, vi, Netscape
Communicator & Composer, Internet Explorer, Windows 3.1 through 98
SE, Unix, Sun OS, Mathematica, various Internet-related programs, some
PowerPoint, and several other document and graphics editors. Very
computer-literate and an adept learner.
• Experience in web page design and maintenance (self-taught). See

• Have had a broad variety of experiences with image scanning, editing of audio, video and
images (including cropping, sharpening, size and resolution adjustment, conversion, nonlinear
editing, and numerous other enhancements), video CD (VCD) creation and authoring, and web publishing.
• Have working knowledge of laboratory instruments, including high-pressure
die press, X-ray spectrometer, controlled atmosphere sintering furnace,
sputtering machine, and related laboratory skills.
• Have worked with various industrial machines: cutters,
grinders, die press, punch press.
