One of my favorite daydreams is that I'm up on stage performing. Every time I've gotten up on stage, I've had an awesome time, and I'd like to do that for the rest of my life. I'd also like to sing funny music and get on the Dr. Demento show. (All I have to do is sit down and record some songs.) Anyway, this is one of my favorite dreams. I have no idea what spawned Al in a dress, or in a chicken suit, but I love it. It was something that no one expected-least of all me, and it's my head! Why was Ruben playing with a bit of string? Every time I see him, he's always doing something silly. Either he's in the conebra-which is hysterical, even if he's getting sick of wearing it-or he's playing Darth Ruben, or Phantom Ruben. Even most of his pictures on weirdal.com are silly. I've never met him, so I don't know how accurate this perception of him is, but he seems like a fun-loving guy. And since nowadays most of the people who are fun-loving are young, it seems natural that Ruben was doing something that kids do. As for Al looking like Emo, there are a few ways we can look at it. First, we can say that Al wanted to escape from his identity for a little while, but he still wanted to be known for being funny. We could also say that Emo and Al are very much alike, and are almost interchangeable...nah. In my mind, both of them are very different, and have very different talents and brands of humor. On to the stage. Backstage and onstage are two very different worlds. Backstage, you have to be very quiet, and make as little noise as possible so that the audience won't notice you. Onstage, you have to be very loud and make sure that the audience notices you. And what better way to be noticed than to be in a dress, if you're a guy? That also helps explain the garden wall-it's something decorative for the audience to look at while they watch the show. And name me one actor who hasn't peeked through holes in the set to see the show. Annoying people really bug me. (Like THAT one wasn't obvious.) There was one particular annoying person who really bothered me all through high school. He had the charming habit of eating out of the biology room's trash can...even on dissection days. (Yes, he was a perfectly marvelous specimen of manhood.) Lately, he had been really getting on my nerves, so I guess my brain couldn't leave well enough alone and keep his influence out of my head. I've also always thought myself at least a little like Al. He's funny...and so am I, or so I've been told. Both of us have never done drugs, both of us are intelligent. Both of us started playing an instrument at a young age. I could go on, but I won't. Suffice to say that if Al ever said I was anything like him, it would be the ultimate compliment. Next Dream! |
