It's the Rocky Horror Picture Show as never seen before! The dream starts out with my boyfriend (Ben) and I as Brad and Janet. We are let into the house by Riff Raff (Steve Jay) and, true to the script of the movie, Riff and Magenta (as performed by Jim West ) break into song and lead us into the main ballroom, where the Transylvanians are gathered, dancing. Among the Transylvanians are Colombia (played by Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz) and Rocky (played by Ruben). I guess Ruben felt a little cold in the gold short-shorts that are all Rocky wears, so he went to the trouble of making a gold lame conebra to go with them. Ruben-Rocky and Colombia-Bermuda were seated on the jukebox, Time Warping with the best of them. Ben and I (as Brad and Janet) are frozen in shock at the spectacle before us. As the song concludes (a quick word about Bermuda-that boy can dance. Tap dance, that is.) Ben and I begin to back up, heading backwards down the hallway and arguing about when to leave (I wanted to go NOW, Ben was of the opinion that we should use the phone first.) We back up, right into the elevator, right in time to catch Al making his big entrance...as Dr. Frank N. Furter. Black cape and all. He breaks into the opening lines of the next song-for those of you unacquainted with Rocky Horror, that would be the catchy tune “I’m Just A Sweet Transvestite”-with a perfect accent and perfect inflections. He struts down the aisle formed by the Transylvanians and whirls around, tossing off the cape to reveal Frank’s signature wardrobe-except changed in one major detail. Instead of black, the ensemble is a Hawaiian print-orange, blue, red and green. (And Al looked simply smashing in those fishnets and heels.) The song plays itself out just as in the movie...with certain members of the cast looking a bit uncomfortable in their costumes. (The only relatively happy one was Steve.) It was about then that I woke up. I’m glad this one didn’t continue...very glad in certain cases. Extremely glad. I suppose this is what I get for watching Rocky Horror and listening to RWS right before I go to bed...either that or someone spiked my Pepsi. My Take On It Next Dream |
