Long silky hair-black as Raven
Soft brown eyes
Set her up for another fall
Then stroke the silk
Place your blame
Say the right words
To put the sparkle back in those eyes
Ignore the sparkles on her cheek
Smile lines gently etched
An everyday mask
A laugh that comes easily
Too easily sometimes
Listen closely
Do you hear the tension
Wound like a spring
So tightly it could break
And send her reeling
She can talk about anything
Except what she feels
It's cold outside
It's even colder inside
Where the light has faded
Trampled and tired
Whose footsteps are these?
The wind never ceases
It howls eternally in her soul
Icicles hang on her dreams
Gaping wounds
Scar her heart
No one sees
The tears
The never ending tears
Her spirit weeps
Alot on her mind...
She's not angry...
Nothings wrong...
Why do you keep asking?
Do you really believe
That you care?
That's why she doesn't like the nighttime
The nightmare always resumes
As soon as she awakens
Its okay, everyone is always so sorry
Til the next time...
Lash out at her
Say what you think
After all, its always her fault
She could have changed it,
Fixed it,
Stopped it
Judge her not harshly
Until you have seen
The ravages committed
Against her soul
She'll just add yours to the secrets
Things said and done
That you'll never know
Look her in the eye
Swiftly feel your token guilt
Then tell her lies
Sweet little lies
Dangle a scrap of hope
She can't hear the difference anymore
There's too much shame
She's lost the fire
Twisting, wrenching
The embers have burned out
Or drifted away-one by one
She knows the only way to be free
Maybe this time she won't stumble
And she'll walk the right path
So much love to give
But no one wants it all
Words that were spoken
Sharp as a knife
Thought she'd never find out
Never expect it from those she held dear
Family, friends, lovers...
Their hearts are not true
Trust shattered, beliefs soiled
Broken promises
Faith dirtied and torn
She believes in no one
Not even herself
Step away
Don't get too close.
