The backlight is held in postion with transparent tape. This photo overlay shows that the top edge of the backlight is too high.
The top edge of the backlight is dropped down a scale inch and the hatch rails are added while the chop is beefed up.
I make a pattern using file folder paper and then cut a pieces from 1mm Evergreen styrene..
The new piece is fitted and glued in. If there's a trick to all this, I think it's to do one thing at a time. If you cut too much it so weakens the model it will get out of alignment. I sometimes will glue in a temporary support before cutting.
My putty of choice is Elmer's Wood Filler. It's easy to find, apply, sand, and who else makes white putty?  I don't apply too much at a time as seen here.
I decided to glue in the backlight. This will simplify the build.
