I was born in Northern Ontario and am a member of the Lac Seul First Nation. At the age of three I was adopted, along with my three sisters and grew up in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario. At the age of 16, I returned to Northern Ontario and have resided in many native communities in that area. In the late 1990's, I returned to Southern Ontario. In September 1999, I met my wife Tammy at the Picton Fair and after leaving on the road for awhile with my job, met her again in Toronto and decided to pursue a relationship. We both felt that the Creator had always meant for us to be together, but in order for us to appreciate each other as a gift from him, we had to experience life's tough times. Now we are able to truly understand what we mean to each other and the importance of our family. We were together for almost a year when we learned we were expecting a baby and on March 15, 2001, the Creator blessed us with a beautiful baby girl named Athena Brianne. About 22 months later, on December 15, 2002, the Creator gave us a handsome baby boy, with the arrival of our son James Devlen. The year 2003 brought wedding bells for Tammy and I when we were married in a small and intimate ceremony on the 19th of July. Marriage was a huge step for both of us, but I love every minute of being a "husband", as well as being able to refer to the woman I love as "my wife". The fall of 2003 also brought more blessings into our lives when the Creator surprised us with another little baby girl, Bryssa Leanne, who made her way into the world on October 21. In January 2006, we were surprised to learn that we are expecting another baby. Our new baby girl, Selena Susanne was welcomed into our family on September 12, 2006. She was born at home with the assistance of a midwife, which was a truly amazing experience for my wife and myself! Today I am a stay at home Dad, spending time at home with my children and enjoying every minute of it. One of the best things in my life has been to be able to be with my kids every day, to watch them explore the world and learn new things. Each day is a gift as I experience the joys of life watching them grow up. I do find time once in awhile to do some beading or tinker with computers (my other passion). A long time ago I was a cool dude, nicknamed "Birdman", now I am now known as the "native guy with the stroller" .... But the name I love to be called the best is "DADDY" |

MAYBE Maybe the Creator wanted us to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift. Maybe when the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one, which has been opened for us. Maybe it is true that we don't know what we have got until we lose it, but it is also true that we don't know what we have been missing until it arrives. Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they will love you back. Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart; but if it does not, be content it grew in yours. Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile. Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched, and those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives. |
