Decision Making Model

  1. Define the problem clearly:  Make sure that there is no confusion; every group member should be able to clearly define the problem.
  2. Brainstorm action alternatives:  Use active listening and keep all members involved
  3. Critique each alternative:  Avoid negative comments or suggestions; keep an open mind to all alternatives.
  4. Come to a unanimous decision on an alternative:  Make sure that all group members accept the solutions.  Don’t be afraid to voice your opinion.
  5. Implement the plan
  6. Evaluate and follow up:  If the evaluation determines that the decision was unacceptable move back to step two.
