Would Jesus.worship in your church? That was the question a minister asked when preaching on Isaiah 6. He pointed out that worship that is acceptable to the Lord does not depend on style, or on the kind of songs we sing, or on the liturgies we use. What matters is that we worship in spirit and in truth by standing in awe before the Lord, confessing our sins and shortcomings, and showing our gratitude for forgiveness and new life in Jesus Christ. That's what Jesus talks about in John 4. The place of worship makes no difference before the Lord. Worship that brings praise to God is acceptable to God. Whenever God's people worship in spirit and in truth, God is honored. God the Father looks at our hearts when we come to worship. And God knows exactly what our motives are. The question we need to ask ourselves today is not "Do I like the worship style in our church?" The question should be "Is God pleased with how we worship?" Do we worship in spirit and in truth? Does our worship lead us into the presence of our awesome God, and does it prepare us for the week ahead? In other words, WOULD JESUS WORSHIP IN OUR CHURCH? ============================== "True worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth..." -John 4:24 |
