How to be punk: (accoriding to j-14) In J-14, it reads: Be a Badass on a Budget! You don’t have to have a rock star’s salary in order to look like one. Accent your Avril-like attitude with bargain finds and household items! Safety First Didn’t think sewing kits had punk rock potential? Get pins for mere cents at a supply stores and add to jeans and jackets. To Dye For Take a cue from Kelly Osbourne and change your hair color with low-risk (non-permanent) low-price products. Power Ties Raid your dad’s wardrobe or shop at thrift stores for these wallet-friendly rocker accessories. Just remember this golden rule: Stripes are punk, pictures of Snoopy golfing are not. Get Studly Hit stores like Hot Topic to score a cheap studded belt. The metal and leather combo will give ordinary outfits a much-needed kick in the pants. My Response: Sounds like an info-mercial. Some of this is VERY stereotypical. Like the safety pins. Yes, a lot of people wear them, but I do not think that most of them walk around bragging about how “punk” they are. Do you see Miss-Punk-Avril wearing safety pins? No… And if this is supposed to be about “your Avril-like attitude” then why did they say that? What about the dye? Avril didn’t dye her hair. The ties. “Stripes are punk, Snoopy is not.” Avril has worn a Snoopy shirt. Yes, that TEENick concert? Snoopy was there… Studs. Do. Not. Make. You. Punk. End of story. Minor Threat is a punk band, and they do not have studs, ties, hair dye, safety pins or any of this “punk” stuff. They look like normal humans. Now preps(i have nothing against them, i promise! one of my best friends is a prep) will walk around with safety pins in their Ambercrombie shirts and will dye their hair blonde, and have a stud bracelet and a striped tie and all the sudden they will be calling themselves punk. To see avril wearing snoopy, which, according to J-14, is so not punk, and other pics, see below. |
