Driven was formed in mid 97' We all knew each other for a long time. How Driven came to be was all of us had quit the bands we were in, but we still had a strong interest in music. And as strange as it may seem all of us being as good of friends that we were played all the instruments needed for a metal group. Bryan Adkins "Vocalist/Songwriter of Driven" had been writing a few songs "two of them are on Disgruntled Children" "Dead men tell no tales" and "Murder of crows". Decided he wanted to go to the studio and record them. So he presented the songs to Rob Counts "bassist of Driven". Rob was amazed by the songs and thought that they needed to be heard. So Rob wrote bass to the songs and decided that Josh Burton "Lead guitarist of Driven" Could really give the songs a great edge, so Rob called him up and and he accepted. Josh learned all the songs and added lead guitar to them . Now Driven felt it was time to bring the songs to life , so Bryan Adkins gave Brian Napier "Drummer of Driven" a call and asked him if he was interested and he accepted. Our first practice we played "Dead men tell no tales" and it felt so natural, we just knew there was something special about the music. But we was playing Napiers parents garage and that was a problem, fall was about to end and it was getting very cold. So we scouted for a place to play in the winter. Finally Rob's friends dad Jeff Barber welcomed us into his home. He gave us our own room to play in the upstairs of his house "dude we were grateful to say the least". There we wrote a couple of the songs on Disgruntled Children, "Jack in the box", and "Boxes". We had a great time there, I feel we discovered our true sound there. Driven decided it was time to play a show, so we went looking for one, it's hard when you are not known, but there was a little ampitheatre in a little town next to us. We set the show up and sent out flyers We rehearsed for a week or two, and then it was time for the show. It was a kool turnout we felt on top of the world, even though it was mostly our friends and family. We continued to practice at Jeff's for a few more months, but he needed to use the space we were taking up in his house so here we were again looking for a place to play. Bryan Adkins's parents had decided to let us play in thier garage, back in a garage again but we were very thankful to have a place to play. I felt when we moved into Adkins's garage we really defined our music, it started to have a sharp edge. One day at practice Adkins presented us with a song he had wrote called The ones you love. We all thought it was great, it was a breakthrough in our writing. We put the song together and it sounded great, it was the most hardcore and energetic song we had ever written. After that we felt it was time to go record what we had wrote so far. So we searched for a studio that didn't charge much by the hour but had decent quality. We had heard about a studio in Flatwoods, KY ran by a musician. His name was Brian Myers. We found the directions to his house and all of us went and talked to him. The studio looked great, and he was a really kool guy, he turned out being alot like us, which made us feel more comforatable in the studio. So we set the date to record and started rehearsing for the studio. We rehearsed about four or five times a week for a month. To this day we had never sounded so tight. Driven had never been so mentally and physically ready for anything they had ever done. Time flew by and the first day to start recording came so fast. We went and it was such a great expierience. The first day was great we recorded all of the music for all five songs in like 4 or five hours. The next day came and it was time for Adkins to do the vocal tracks. We were all a little nervous but I had knew Adkins would do great I had great faith in him. He recorded the vocal tracks and he sounded awesome. Then came time to mix the tracks and master them. That was really fun as well, Brian Myers was so kool we all got along with him very well. Finally the whole demo was finished. We took it out to out cars and played it and it sounded great. We were all very proud of what we had done. The Demo never had a name and has never been released. The songs that were on it are five songs that are on Disgruntled Children, "Dead men tell no tales", "Boxes", "Murder of crows", and "The ones you love". Recording that demo really brought us all closer together as a band and as friends.
