The Libertarian Party is the next big thing to hit the US. In my Civics class, my group did research on this party, and they rule. Here are their stances on the important issues: They want an extremely weak govenment. The Libertarians want you to be able to make your own decisions. This means no social security, no income taxes, no nothing.
Here is the best part. They think that all drug offenders in jail are just taking up space, so they want to revoke all drug laws to cut down of the costs of jails. That means all drugs will be legal. They also want to make it easier to get guns, so that people will be able to protect themselves better from criminals.
They are actually a fast growing group. They got over 1 million votes for the US Congress, and they are now the 3rd biggest political party in the United States today.
All of this was part of a Civics project where we had to make a bumper sticker, a sound byte, and a mini political platform. |
