The David Bowie & Christopher Walken Connection: Did you know that David Bowie was up for the role of Zorin in the James Bond film A View to a Kill? He was the first choice in that 1985 flick starring Roger Moore. When Bowie declined, Christopher Walken picked up the role and dyed his hair blonde. Another thing the two have in common (besides being two of my favorite celebrities) is that they both dated Susan Sarandon! Susan Sarandon best known for her roles in Rocky Horror Picture Show, Bull Durham, and Step Mom was in a vampire movie with David Bowie called The Hunger. I bet you didn't know that! If you did...cookie for you. January 8 is a birthday shared by many celebrities besides David Bowie....here's a few: Soupy Sales, Shirley Bassey, Elvis Presley, Stephen Hawking, Charles Osgood, Jose Ferrer, Gabby Hoffman, Larry Storch, R. Kelly, and Richard Cromwell. Mark David Chapman, the man who shot and killed John Lennon, appearantly had a second choice if Lennon did not show up December 8th. The second choice being David Bowie. Reportedly Chapman attended a performance of The Elephant Man that same night and got a shot off (with his camera) of Bowie. According to Chapman's girlfriend, he bragged to her that he could have killed either man, but if Lennon had not appeared, he would have returned to the theatre and killed Bowie. Investigating officers in Lennon's murder discovered in Chapman's home The Elephant Man programme with David's name ringed in black. Six Degrees of David Bowie is a game we like to play around here. We thought we could pick a couple of celebrities and tell you how they're connected to Bowie within six degrees or less. Here we go:
It's all about the art! David Bowie's high school art teacher was Mr. Frampton....Peter Frampton's dad. Frampton told stories about hanging out in the halls playing guitar with David on VH1's Behind the Music. Some of the movies that feature Bowie Music but don't give him credit on the soundtracks! There's a couple of movies out there that use Bowie music that you have to look out for. They change the lyrics, but the song remains the same: "I Have Not Been to Oxford Town" (or Paris Town as they say) in Starship Troopers. They use "Young Americans" in the preparation for the wedding of Sixteen Candles when they discover Long Duck Dong but this is only in the version on TV, because I own a copy of Sixteen Candles and they do not play the song, odd, huh? Another movie that uses a Bowie song is that of Alien Nation with James Caan and Mandy Patinkin. When they enter the alien bar and try to question this one guy, the song, "Scary Monsters" is playing over the loud speakers. This just proves how Bowie Obsessed I really am. David Bowie, Legend. Do you know who was the narrator for David Bowie's episode of VH1 Legends? If you guessed or knew that it was Eddie Izzard, you get a cookie! Eddie Izzard, comedian, Executive Transvestite, gotta love him. Are you Compatable With David Bowie? Find out at http://www.celebmatch.com/ You can browse other celebrities as well...like Christopher Walken, Kevin Spacey, and others. It's great fun. Check it out. Iman in a Linguini Incident?! That's right...Iman was in The Linguini Incident with her future husband, David. If you've every seen the movie, there's the big finale where Rosanna Arquette is going to perform that trick and she asks, "Does anybody want to see me die tonight?" Or something along those lines. Iman raises her hand! (This is only funny because David is playing Monty, Rosanna Arquette's love interest. Amusing, don't ya think? *lol* |
