This web page was created in response to overwhelming inquiries to the Kitten-18 catamaran plans. I'm designing this craft as a week-end sailer. Similar to other boats offered by designers, the Kitten is a product of personal preference. Designed to be constructed of readily-available materials, and with limited construction knowledge, the Kitten has struck interest with many people.

side view The craft is a hard-chine, flat bottom hull on frame construction. The majority of the hull and cabin are straight cuts with minimal bending. 1/2" marine plywood construction with fiberglass finish offer an extended lifetime of the boat. Dagger boards offer tracking and components from a larger production catamaran (hobie, prindle, etc.) can be used for rigging.

Enough room is provided for a separated bunk area with built-in shelf. In the cabin is a port-o-head hidden under a section of the "L" shaped bench. A small galley counter is aft-port. The center wall in the cabin provides support for the mast located above. The cockpit is designed with side benches to provide room for four and several storage areas.

The plans are currently under evolution thanks to many comments and recommendations. AutoCAD R12 or DXF files are available upon request for anyone interested in toying with the project. I would love for someone to build this thing in 3D Studio for a better perspective. I intend to start construction in December once I relocate to Maui, HI. I'll be posting photographs of the various phases, changes, and accidents!, as I go along. For now, I'm offering a glimpse into the belly of the project.
