Stay At Home Moms
Some ways to get a Mommy support group started in your area...

I am not an expert and I don't claim to be one but I do have some ideas on how to get a bunch of mommies together with the purpose of networking and watching their children have a great time.  Maybe these ideas will help you get started.  I hope they do!
First, you need to decide if this is a committment that you can make.  If so, you are ready.

You need to decide what days you are going to meet.

Do you want this club to  be strictly a Play group for the kids to play or do you want to take on a bigger task of having adult meetings with speakers.  If you decide on the adult meetings, then you should always have the meetings during the day and always let the little kids come to the meeting.  You should also, have scheduled playdates on a regular basis so that you can just play and not have to be so "grown - up".

Whether or not it will be a monthly club or a bi-monthly club.

Where can you hold the meetings or playdates?  Some places allow free meetings to be held while others (such as restaurants charge fees based on the number of guests).  After the first few meetings, you can probably start holding the meetings at different members homes.

Once you have made the decisions above, it will be time to advertise your group...

You can start by doing fliers.  If you don't have any design ideas, I can get you started. (email me!!!) I like designing pages like that.  You then would take the fliers and post them where mommies go (i.e.  Supermarkets, check with drug stores, check with beauty salons, and at church).

You can advertise on your communities local web page if your town has such a page.

Alot of newspapers will do free advertising for non-profit groups.  Always use the media.  They are your best source of new members.  Try to get them to do a story for the "Local" section of the paper.  Many will read this and become interested!

If your town has an Local Cable Information Channel  check on advertising on there.  MANY local channels will broadcast a little message about non-profits organizations.  This would be a nice way to get people too.

I hope that these ideas will get you started.  At least this will give you a start.  The group planning is the hard part.  Just remember that it is all for fun and don't take everything tooooo seriously!
