Whiplash occurs when the head and neck are thrown or "snapped" back and forth very quickly. It can occur in auto accidents, during football, bowling, other sports, or from a fall. In addition to the disc and other soft tissue damage, whiplash causes spinal vertebral misalignment with irratation, stretching, and impingement to the nerves of the spine. About 20 million people in the U.S. have suffered whiplash damage. Other neck problems can be caused by poor posture, work habits, and even birth trauma. The neck has a normal lordotic (forward) curve, but the spinal curve may reduce, become straight or even become reversed from this type of injury. The X-rays on the right show a normal and abnormal neck curve. These type of injuries can lead to athritic changes in time. Some common symptoms are: Neck and upper back pain, headaches,numbness(hands-fingers), ringing in ears, dizziness, nausea and lack of enrgy to name a few. Chiropractic has been a blessing to millions of people suffering from whiplash injuries, saving sufferers from unnecessary drugs and surgery. Through gentile Chiropractic adjustments these spinal injuries begin to heal restoring health to the patient. If you or someone you know have been in an auto-accident or other type of accidental injuries have your spine checked immediately. These injuries may not produce symptoms right away but why wait and allow possible damage to continue. If this applies to you call me at 602-548-6100 |

The X-ray on the left is a normal curve. Notice how the curve moves forward or to the right. The X-ray on the right has a reversed curve. Notice how the curve is to the left. This type of curve on the right X-ray is a result of trauma, causing the normal neck curve to reverse. Chiropractic care for this type of injury is very important. |
