On this page, you can find information on a few different types of horses.
This background is an Arabian.
Arabian
The arabian is known to be the oldest breed in the world.  They originate in the Middle East.  Two well known traits of the arabian are it's dished face and it's high tail carraige.  Arabian blood is in most of the breeds of the world.  They can be pretty spunky, but a lot of hotbloods are.
This arabian came from Legacy Arabians.  Please visit my banner exchange to go to   their website.  Thanks!
The horses above are all arabians.  Aren't they beautiful?  They're my fave breed!
Thoroughbred
The thoroughbred is the main breed of horse used in United States horse racing today.  They are also a popular choice for jumpers because they have long legs and a large lung capacity.  Some well known thoroughbred legends are Man O'War, Secretariat, and Affirmed.  I have seen Secretariat's son in real life!  It was awesome!
This is Secretariat.  This picture was taken from the web site:

This breed was developed in the early American settlements and was used to race 1/4 mile races (hence the name "quarter" horse.)  They are very good for working cattle, and are used by many modern cowboys today.  They are also suited for english riding.

Lipizzaner (Lipizzan)
The beautiful lipizzaner horses were originally bred for war horses.  Today, their most popular occupation is dazzling crowds at the Spanish Riding School of Vienna in Vienna, Austria.  They are taught elegant moves which they perform without fault.  They are born black, but turn grey (white) in later years.
Please visit my dressage page for more information on lipizzaners!
Belgian
Belgians are a type of draft horse.  They are commonly seen pulling carriages in large cities and hay wagons in the countryside.  Some people still use them for thier original use, pulling carts and plowing fields.
