In order to set things right, democracy can no longer be viewed as a desired luxury: it is a plain necessity! Sovereignty, which constitutional ideal declares resides with the people, must now, in fact, do just that! A ground level precept of the Green Party is to help sovereignty of the people become and remain a reality!

We're all in this together! Even the people who behave like greed weenies have souls. In their money addictions, they can be accurately described as being a particularly sad and dangerous kind of victim.

They are the patients in charge of the rehab center. They comprise the institutional leadership of this world. As individuals, they are, by and large, human beings of good will; human beings either disinterested in or afraid of changing the established economic "rules."

They cannot be counted on, in their current state, to be trustworthy to lead society out of it's very real, pressing monumental dilemmas. Rather the opposite: A lot of hiding of eyes, blind smug proclamations of endless prosperity, benefiting all, grounded on the fantasy numbers crunching of their own manufacture, pretending no problem exists; in fact accusing those who clearly see where life on this planet is heading of being deluded or hysterical!

Life on earth is at the most critical of crossroads! The stakes could not be higher! Anyone reflecting on that statement with even a little concrete and intuitive information knows it is true! The point to transform society, save our world, and release and balance life to flourish, is upon us.

The moment will not stay forever. The alternative is, at best, a devolving desolation. There will be no "winners" worth the name. (However, in a wise, creative, innovative, mature society, all are "winners." This work is political/social activism for grown-ups!)

One more thing: the engaged process will NOT be slow going!

Those determined to have change and create certain results don't wail at any artificial, mind induced slow going time frame. They set about producing and reaping the desired goals and results.

Whatever it's deficiencies, and in real detriment they are legion, one thing global commerce is doing very well is acting on it's agenda. The intentions of global corporations are revolutionary, and the desired achievment of goals is the real world result! Put that in a race with a mentality that believes humane social change has got to be a slow, nearly hopeless, long term generational process, and we can confidently announce who prevails in the race before it is ever run.

I KNOW that the individual and collective consciousness of humanity, seemingly as disorganized and isolated as it might look on the surface, is ready to creatively explode, and take society and the earth in a triumphant, soul based alternate core direction from where the institutional mainstream leads us to think, inevitably, it's going now.

The Green Party of Utah is one, potentially dynamic, organizing format to actually make this directional shift happen, not merely through the electoral process, but more primarily through grassroots democratic discourse, and especially the essential follow through of non-violent, legal, populist action!

It must be done; it can be done! It IS being done, and the GPU intends to be an important participant in the doing. It takes each reader of these words to decide to be an active part of this critical work: to grow a true democracy from the ground up, and to transform this world into a place where ongoing nature and institutions are sustainable and thriving.

This is a big ticket item! Responsible, sustainable civilization is the goal!
