What Can I Do?
As long as we keep silent the situation will not change on its own. Speak out and get others to speak out against discrimination regardless of who is doing it. Our greatest need is in the area of raising public awareness regarding the problems in the legal system. Spreading the word to friends, acquaintances and others. Getting people involved and actively speaking out regarding the cynical misuse of the legal system, especially using children in divorce and custody matters. Talk to people you know, begin a discussion, raise the issues, cite the people you know who have been affected, get people involved.
If you have a story to tell, share your story with others, if you know others with a story, get them to share their story. If you know anyone who you believe was falsely accused of Domestic Violence, refer them here, get them to write about their experiences with the system. The more people speak out about the abuse of civil liberties, the Legislators will begin to listen. Remember that bigotry has its roots in fear and ignorance. As long as we keep silent, we will be vilified and striped of our humanity, monsters don’t cry, but that’s what they want us to be.
One of the greatest barriers we encounter is the wall of silence from the media who refuse to openly discuss the issues due to political correctness, editors frequently decline to publish news stories. This is why we have created websites to bypass the media and present the facts. And that of men who all
too frequently try to solve their problem individually instead of working with others to solve our society's problem. The net result of both the media and men is to cover up the pain and suffering of children and men.
The law exists to remedy the pain and suffering of people, not to create it by its misuse. Many legal professionals privately acknowledge the discrimination by the legal system towards men but are afraid to jeopardize their position by challenging it. Challenge legal professionals you personally know to face the pain and suffering and challenge their presumptions. Get lawyers, judges and other legal professionals to acknowledge the continuing failures of a system that bases its decisions on presumption and precedence, which has become the legal euphemism for prejudice, instead of a full investigation of the facts. It is the sum of the facts that determines the truth, when we only look at some of the facts we create a lie.
Below are e-mail listing for various Print and Media institutions in the Washington, DC area. Whenever you see unbalanced articles on Domestic Violence send a letter to the Editor or columnist. Unbalanced media reports present the subject of Domestic Violence and Child Abuse in one of two ways: They speak as though only women are victims or they mislead the reader into believing the only perpetrator is male. Be sure to include your name, address and phone # for the news organization to verify the authenticity of your letter. They will only print your name and city for the credit at the end of the letter if it is published.
