About BPL

Black Pearl Labradors is a hobby kennel established in 2003. Our passions are rooted in waterfowl hunting and reliable hunting retrievers. Pursuing waterfowl without a seasoned retriever is akin to to paddling a boat with just one oar. BPL is convinced that every waterfowl hunter should be paired up with a quality Labrador retriever. BPL is dedicated to producing quality Labrador puppies from proven working retriever lineage and from breeding stock that has certified genetic soundness.

BPL is located in Salem, Oregon in the heart of the beautiful Willamette Valley.

BPL participates in AKC Hunt Tests in Oregon and Southern Washington. Our younger dogs will also be entering derby field trials soon.

Puppies from Black Pearl Labradors are bred with three things in mind:.

1. Most Labs are family pets, and they need to be of temperament suitable for the family lifestyle.

2. Labrador Retrievers that are bought as pets often double as gun dogs or hunting companions, therefore they must be able to put "meat on the table".

3. Participating in field competitions is an exhilarating experience. To be competitive your retriever must possess a pedigree that is proven.

BPL strives to meet all of these considerations in every breeding. Our customers have been satisfied when wanting a household pet, a hunting companion, or a pup that is destined for the blue ribbon. Every effort is taken to select Sires and Dams that have received favorable health certifications regarding their hips and retinal confirmation. BPL soon will also be screening their breeding stock for CNM.
