Nightlife for Foriegners

Many people have asked me what kind of nightlife there is in Korea...so let's see if I can help!

So you want something to drink...what do you do?

I have lived in Korea for a long time, and if I didn't have other foriegners to hang out with...well I am not sure if I would have made it. You need to unwind and destress at the end of the week and the best way to do that is to hang out with some friends where you can speak in slang, rapid English and you don't have to watch everything you say.

When I first came to Korea I didn't even realize that there were other foriegners here. I thought for sure that I was the only one, but I met a guy one day who pointed out where everyone hangs out at on the weekends. I soon realized that I loved Korea, but sometimes I needed someone to talk about life back home, or even to just complain with. This helped me through many nights.

Drinking is a big social event here and people of just about all ages stay out all night. And in every town that I have been in I have found many bars that cater to foreigners. In Ulsan most of the foreigners are teachers or business men; but if you go to Seoul or Pusan you will find lots of military people. So whatever you desire you will find. So don't worry...if you need someone to talk to, just look around they are there somewhere.

There are also many places to hang out at that don't cater to foreigners, but are just as fun. There are many night clubs, soju tents, pubs and coffee houses. Just about anything you want, you can find it.

Don't forget: Taxi's are cheap...don't waste your time driving!

There are many things to order...here is the rundown:

Soju: Korea's most popular and powerful drink. You drink it in shotglasses...be careful.

Mokkali: Korean rice wine. Very cheap and usually only consumed by old men or college students.

Beer: A few varieties. Cheap if you drink a Korean brand...but watch out for the killer hangover. Imported....you better be rich.

Coctails: Not what you expect. They make them their own way...sometimes good, sometimes not!

Shots: The same wherever you go.

Be careful of Soju...you could look like this!
