BLOOPERS & OBSERVATIONS
1. By the end of the movie Jack's hair is so long it no longer will stay neatly back in the wind blown style he sported earlier in the movie.

2. Jack decides to change outfits in the middle of "Once and For All"

3. The Newspapers were not the proper style for the time.

4. Why are there neatly dressed men leaving the "Stage Entrance" door at Medda's just after Jack, David and Les leave?

5. It was the summer of 1899..........an awful lot of sniffling going on, wouldn't ya say?

6. Was there electric lighting in 1899?

7. I swear the bedroom-like furniture at the Jacob's is constantly being rearranged.

8. If you pay close attention to the little bit of a building ad you can see when Snyder's chasing Jack and comp. you'll see it's indeed the same ad as the one on the building beside the Jacob's home, and therefore the same building.  Blooper or do the Jacobs live in the building they were chased through?

9. Jake and Dutchy do a nice hanging move during "King of NY" on the line "Weasel, he's dyin'."

10. Pay close attention after "Santa Fe" is over.  Race and Jack both approach the Lodging House and Race looks over at Jack but waits until he and Jack are side-by-side before greeting him.  I find this bizarre!

11. In "Carrying the Banner" no one sings the second part (Look they're putting up the headline, you call that a headline, the idiot who wrote it must be working for the sun...).

12. Why must Snitch and Itey share a bed?

13. In 1899 Pulitzer was blind and running THE WORLD from his yaht.

14. There's a spotlight on Medda at the ralley.  Were there spotlights in 1899?

15. Why did David and Les follow Jack when he was chased by Snyder?  I can understand why Les did, he thought he was gonna be arrested for sippin' that beer, but c'mon Davey, wise up!

16. Did you see how upset David got when Denton told the Newsies about going back to being the Sun's ace war corrispondant?!  Like there isn't something going on there!

17. Pulitzer speaks of creating THE WORLD at the beginning of the movie, too bad he didn't!  He bought the world from some other hot-shot.

18. At the beginning Snyder points Jack out to an officer, but only Snyder goes chasing after Jack.

19. Why did the Jacob's just let Les sleep through the meal, with the B-day celebration and everything?!  C'mon!  Like Les isn't hungry!

20. With as much as Les eats, why did Ester need to add more water to the soup for Jack?  Of course he did have seconds, but how were they to know that.

21. When Jack becomes a scab and he and David have that big argument about how "those were Davey's words but he never had the guts to put them across himself" and that was all true but how does that make Davey the "walking mouth?"

22. Watch David very carfully as he walks along pier to see Spot.  Watch the entire time.

23. Man check out the crib in the background behind Davey in Brooklyn.

24. Snitch and Kid Blink make nice indian sounds during the paper-ripping fiasco.

25. The waiter at Tibby's is jammin' during "King of NY".

26. Crutchy's had is so dead bobby pined on at the end of the paper-ripping fiasco.  Way to wear it naturally Crutchy!

27. David gradually becomes dirtier as the movie progresses.

28. Denton gradually becomes more newsie-like as the movie progresses
29. Near the beginning, when Jack and David are discussing Jack's buisness proposition, watch Itey.  He's holding on to his suspender the ENTIRE time.  At one point he lets go, but quickly gets it back in his grasp.  It's almost as if Ortega* told him to hold on to his suspender in this scene and Dominic took this as NEVER IN YOUR LIFE LET GO OF THAT SUSPENDER.  At another point Itey rubs his lip, and does this while still holding on to his suspender.  Man, is he whipped!

30. Govenor Roosevelt should have had a southern accent.

31. At the rally just after "High Times, Hard Times" is over and everyone is running from the cops, you'll see a red, neon Exit sign behing Jack and Davey.

32. How far away was the Bronx from Newsie Square?  Crutchy am-bastards to the Bronx but how could he hobble all the way there?

33. In court Jack has a bruise on his right cheek but he was punched in the jaw.

34. Was smoking permitted in Tibby's?  Bumlets was smoking during the scene when Denton comes to tell everyone he's going back to being the ace war corrispondant for the Sun.

35. How did Davey become such a leader during the strike when he had only been a newsie for a day prior to the strike?

36. When Jack escapes after seeing Pulitzer, why does Seitz claim "He has no place to go"?  I understand Jack indeed didn't go anywhere but why couldn't he?

37. The middle nun has a wedding band.

38. The none on our right has a hole in the top of her nun cap.

39. During the nun scene when Patrick's mom is singing in counterpoint w/ the newsies, there is a kid standing in the back who mouths Kid Blink's line as he says it.

40. What is with Davey's massive grip on Les's shoulder when we first see them?

41. At the end of CTB when Jack is in the middle of the crowd, in front of the gates, and is fighting the Delancys, no one is singing.

42. Race doesn't have the 2 bits he needs to buy his papes with, yet a couple minutes later he spots Jack 2 bits so Jack can buy David another 50 papes.

43. Gotta love Les's knickers that are pulled up to his knees and his black socks that are pulled up as well.  Mmmmm.

44. Watch Jack's eyes when Medda finishes singing "Lovey Dovey Baby" and swipes her feather in front of him.

45. Watch David when they're at home and he volunteers a little TOO happily to get the knife, and then gleams it a bit too much when Mayer speaks of sending him back to school, and see how close David get that knife to Mayer's neck when handing it to him.  Hmmm ulterior motive?

46. Check out the people in the windows in the background during the "Santa Fe" dance scene.

47. At the beginning of "Seize the Day", David helps Crutchy up then moments later you see Crutchy walk behind David without his crutch.

48. During the real strike the cops tended to help the newsies by not breaking up fights that the newsies were winning, and not stopping riots; however, when the newsies were fighting the cribs in the movie the police officer refused to help when it was obvious the newises would lose.

49. During the second verse of "King of NY" you can see hands on the back of Boots, Les's chairs.

50. Blink and Mush have to share a glass when they toast to Denton at Tibby's and laugh about it as well.

51. Kid Blink is late starting the dance to "Siece the Day (chorale)".

52. Mush is late at the "We need a good assassination" part of CTB.

53. The calandar in Snyder's office says July 13/14 but the strike happened at the end of July, beginning of August.

54. Sarah claims she made Jack breakfast during the rooftop scene but the only thing eaten is Jack's milk.

55. Medda's lip syching is WAY off during the beginning of"High Times, Hard Times".

56. At the end all the Newsies were broke yet they all could afford papes, and Davey could even afford 100!

57. The newsies sold their newspapers for 1 penny each.  I don't believe a person to buy more than two papes at a time, so would the newsies NOT end up with a pocket full of pennies?  You'd expect them to, right?  This being the case, why to the newsies always manage to purchase their papes from distributer with a single, silver coin?

58.  Davey develops a NY accent for "King of NY" only.

59.  When Les says "all this for one sip of beer" (near the beginning) his lips aren't moving.

60.  During the song "King of NY", Jack says "Don't rip it", refering to the pape, but his lips aren't moving.

61. When Jack becoms a scab, and has his confrontation with David, David is pulled away at the end or this and when Weasle asks him if he would like a new suit of his own, he replies with "No!  Never!  I'm not like you." but on the "I'm not like you." part his lips aren't moving.

62.  Spot can be seen in 2 different places during the scene when the many hundred worker kids enter.  He's leading a group shouting "Brooklyn!" and standing in the back of the group of main newsies who are extatic over the many worker kids.

62.  We believe that the reason all those worker kids at the end knew the words to "The World Will Know (reprise)" and all entered at the same time, was because the lyrics to the song were printed in the
Newsies Banner as well as a place and time for all of them to meet for a rehearsal just before entering Newsies Square.

63.  On the day of the jack up, Davey bought papes.  You can see he has them while jack is trying to figure out what to do about it all, and even when they're leaving the distribution center Davey has them, but they magically disappear when the walk up to the statue.

64.  Ya know what?  I bet Les REALLY could have done a lot of damage with that wooden sword when Sarah was getting beaten up by the Delancys.

65. Denton took the picture for the paper of all the newsies one day, and you think that pic wouldn't be in the papes till the next day, wouldn't you?  Well guess what, every single newsie is wearing the same outfit they were wearing in the picture, including Denton, though slightly less.

66. When Jack et al are running from Snyder at the beginning, Jack has a bunch of papes, but when the reach Medda's his papes are gone.  Now tell me, did he manage to sell all those papes while running from Snyder?   I knew he was good, but not THAT good.

67. Why did Medda feel the need to sporadically nod before she began to sing "High Times, Hard Times"?

68. I'm convinced the entire movie is lip-synched.

69. Ya know Davey and that swing are mighty threatening during the riot at the rally.

70. Why did Morris tell Oscar to shut up when Oscar told Jack they were gonna fix Davey so he couldn't walk?

71. It amazes me that Pulitzer's old printing press was so old and yet there was plenty of clean paper and ink around to use.

72. By the way, in "Once and For All" that's not Ele Keats's voice.

73.  When on his balcony at the end, Pulitzer told the croud to "go home to your mothers and fathers" but i'm betting that since those were all the worker kids, they were mostly orphans.

74. When Race says "Dear me, what is that unpeasent aroma?" Snipeshooter sniffs himself.

75.  At the very end, Jack leaves w/ Roosevelt in the cairage, and he doesn't have is cowboy hat.  Before he returns we see enough of Les to know that HE doesn't have the hat; however, as soon as Jack gets back, who has the hat?  Yes, that's right, Les does.  Les also has the Western Jim comic, how did he get that?!

76.  Snitch blows his nose into a towel and walks away looking at it in the opening scene.

*Kenny Ortega was the director of
