Duff McKagan Bio
Duff McKagan was born Michael Andrew McKagan on February 5, 1964 in Seattle, WA. He is the youngest of eight siblings, including four brothers and three sisters. Duff grew up in a very musical household. His father sang harmonies in a barbershop quartet and most of his older siblings were heavily involved in music.

Duff played in over 30 Seattle based bands as a teenager playing mostly the guitar and drums. At the age of nineteen he decided to pick up and leave his hometown to pursue his musical career in Los Angeles. Duff reportedly switched from playing guitar to the bass having heard that L.A. was already overflowing with so-called whiz-kid guitarists.

Down on the ever-famous Sunset Strip of L.A. Duff hooked up with Slash and Steven Adler forming a band called Road Crew. Not long after they joined forces with Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin of Hollywood Rose. They were now what would soon become the mutli-platnum megastars known as Guns N' Roses.
