    Janet Jackson Drug Suit Dismissed

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has dismissed a lawsuit against Janet Jackson filed by her former cook, which alleged she had several drugs prescribed in his name without permission. In his suit, filed in August 1999, Ricardo Macchi claimed that Jackson had a hepatitis B vaccine, an anti-depressant, and an appetite suppressant all prescribed under his name in order to maintain her privacy. Jackson's estranged husband, Rene Elizondo Jr., two doctors, and Jackson's business corporation were also named in the suit.

Macchi had asked that the defendants be prohibited from using his name and that he be awarded damages commensurate to the fees paid to the doctors to write the prescriptions. He also sought restitution for the value of his name.

But Thursday, Judge Alexander Williams said Macchi failed to provide proof that he'd suffered damages from the alleged use of his name.

The suit claimed that Macchi, in addition to his duties in the kitchen, was sent on errands to pick up Jackson's prescriptions and "was told by Jackson that the packages would be under his name for pickup. … What Macchi was never told, however, was that the drugs inside the sealed packages had been prescribed in his name."

Macchi also claimed that his name was used to "secretly admit Elizondo into a drug-rehabilitation program for his addiction to pain killers." Macchi alleged that the practice went on for at least a year without his knowledge.

Macchi's lawyer said he plans to appeal.

    Janet's New Album:
Janet has stated in various interv iews that she is currently working on her new album, which is not yet titled. Although the album is still in the beginning stages, Janet has recorded three new tracks for the album with long-time companions, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. A release date on the album has been rumored to be Late 2001, Early 2001, but no offical date has been stated. Recently, Jimmy Jam has spoken to reporters about a couple of the new tracks that have been recorded. The ballad, "Feel's So Right", Jam has stated that "The song reminded me of "That's The Way Love Goes" (Janet's Number One hit off of 1993s, janet.)." A dance track that has been recorded, titled "Who", Jam also stated that "Who" reminded him of an old Eddie Kendricks type of song. Many collaborations have been rumored, but none that are offical. Missy Elliot stated that she produced a track with Janet called "Nasty Girl 2000," although no full information is known about this track. The new album's theme is unknown, but Janet has stated that it will be an album to "portray her newly found happiness." Janet has branched away from Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis somewhat on this album, but they will still be overseaing the project. Other producers include Rockwilder, SoSo Def's Jermaine Dupri told Rolling Stone that he would probably end up working with Janet this time around, although Janet, herself, has not confirmed this yet.
