Dunsmuir Historic Estate retains the perfect touch of Victorian/Edwardian elegance. The 50 acre estate features many fine locations for corporate meetings events and parties. Built in 1899 by Alexander Dunsmuir, the classical revival Mansion is the highlight of the Estate. From the early 1900's through 1959 the Estate was the summer home of the I.W. Hellman family of San Francisco.
In 1960 the Estate was purchased by the City of Oakland and in 1971 a non profit organization was established to promote and preserve the property for public use. Currently, Dunsmuir House and Gardens Inc. is responsible for funding, managing, restoring and preserving the 50 acre estate. Operating funds are generated through memberships, donations, admissions fees and fees charged for rental for the Estate's many facilities.
Dunsmuir Historic Estate hosts a number of large and small events and non-residence meetings, each designed to create its own special ambiance. Nestled in the Oakland Hills, the Dunsmuir Estate provides a tranquil setting to meet your event requirements. The gracious efficient Dunsmuir Staff oversees all elements of each event to ensure quality and the satisfaction of Dunsmuir's client guests.
