St Olaves, River Waveney

The River Waveney flows north easterly for 22 miles until it merges with the Yare at Breydon Water. About 9 miles from Yarmouth is St Olaves and spanning the river is a iron suspension bridge carrying the road that links Norfolk with Suffolk. Just above the bridge is the entrance to the ' New Cut ' opened in 1844. The cut is 2.5 miles long and connects with the Yare just below Reedham, it saves craft having go via Breydon Water to reach the Yare.
