Planet Earth
This is their very first video and comes to us from around the year 1981. This was filmed during the new romantic era meaning glam rock (think David Bowie) and lots of ruffles on shirts. Best looking: Simon and John Artistic factor: 4 (on a scale from 1-10 1 being lowest, ten being highest) Dress: Kim: This new romantic thing is not working for me. Bernadette: Yeah, Nick’s orange hair and ruffles are just scary. Torrey: They look like Russian guys. Christi: I like the red pants on Andy though. Kim: You would. (Christi has a rather bright taste in fashion) John needs to cut his bangs so we can see his beautiful eyes. Comments on video: Christi: The video was cheesy but the color scheme was balanced between water and fire, sort of an earth’s elements sort of thing. It was definitely British. Bernadette: Simon can not go without a shirt. Kim: If you don’t have a nice body don’t show it off. Besides Simon can’t dance. Bernadette: Definitely can’t dance. Christi: Yeah he needs to stand still. Kim: I like the hand and water thing. Bernadette: Yeah, the stats were an interesting touch and the Roger with world view at the beginning is very nifty. The ending was cool although I wanted to see Simon fall all the way off the ledge. Torrey: Don’t freeze the fall. Over all grade- C *Note to Duranies. If you watch John carefully you might catch him tripping or fighting with his Bass chords. Rather entertaining to watch.
Hungry Like the Wolf
Hungry Like the Wolf- This video was made in 1982 and has a real quality feel to it. While Planet Earth was definitely made for MTV of the 80’s. This is also one of the boy’s best songs, not to mention one of the most popular of the bunch. Best looking: Simon Artistic factor: 5, it was a rip off of several films but it made sense. Dress: Kim: Classic 80’s. The fedora on Simon, fabulous! John’s headband, very nice. When Simon is running around in the jungle, the whole ripped up clothing thing is very sexy. Bernadette: It looked more natural than the ruffles. Christi: It’s the red pants again! Only this time Nick’s wearing them. Kim: I wasn’t digging John’s colonel Sander’s look. That tie is not cool. And the hot pink pants on Nick made him look girlie. Christi: Hey! They were red. Torrey: Simon needs to ditch the glasses at the beginning. Hey Simon, you are not Elton John. And those pants, those pink pants are hideous. Christi: They were red! Torrey: The paint on Simon in the jungle was a little strange. Comments: Bernadette: I like the whole set up in India and the rain forest. The kids are cool too. Kim: The whole theme of searching and wanting was fantastic. And Simon singing “I’m after you.” Is rather delicious! Christi: Ohh! Look at Simon coming out of the water, cool. Bernadette: I like the model with the leopard eyes. Kim: I’m digging the scratch on Simon’s neck. Yummy, something about a guy being tough and rugged! And hey, we can all relate to this video because we have all wanted someone a lot at one point in time or another. Torrey: I would have to say the transitions between shots were fantastic. Over all grade- B+ |

Filmed in 1982 and shot in Sri Lanka. Lots of beaches and scenery of Buddhist ruins. Very sentimental Best looking: John Artistic factor: 5 Clothes: Kim: John makes peach look manly. Yeah baby! Bernadette: Ugly clothes. Capris on men are hideous. Kim: Yeah. So are rat tails. Andy, cut it off. And what’s up with the violet pants? Bernadette: Simon’s clothes are to big for him and the Speedos have got to go. Christi: I agree about the Speedos, Yuck! I do like Simon’s clothes though; it’s like a rich Indiana Jones look. The lost island boy thing is not working. Kim: Speedos are just gross. Get rid of the shoulder pads while you are at it. Torrey: The speedos are nasty. I like Simon’s hair messed up more than in the beginning of the video when it’s slicked back. Bernadette: The all white at the end is nice, it makes them look pure. Kim: Um, Bernadette, I don’t think they are pure. Bernadette: I said “look” pure. Kim: Oh I get it! Disguises! Comments: Kim: Simon is uncomfortable and off the beat at the beginning. Bernadette: The children are back. Christi: What’s with the children!? Kim: Simon likes kids. Besides he looks darn fine with them. Torrey: You got to admit, the frolicking with kids is cute. Christi: The color scheme is totally calming. Oh look! Water! Kim: You and water! Bernadette: I like the ruins and the scenery. Kim: It’s very beautiful. Torrey: Yeah very nice scenery. Christi: I don’t understand the Hindu thing. But I do like Simon’s bedroom. Torrey: Definitely like the bedroom. Kim: sigh! You know I just have one question. Why would any one want to walk away from Simon while they were dancing with him? That chick was an idiot! I’ll dance with you Simon! Christi: Kim, get a grip on it. Kim: Sorry. Over all grade: B

This video was made in 1982 and is considered to be one of the greatest 80’s videos ever made because it showed the lifestyle’s of the Rich and Famous attitude that was so popular in the era of the yuppies. Best Looking: Simon Artistic factor: 6 Dress: K: I like the suits on the ship. Very nice yet playful. C: Yeah I’m digging all of the suits. B: I don’t like the suits on the beach. Who wears suits on a beach? K: Apparently Duran Duran. B: Cute. K: I’m digging John’s whole Rambo look during his little day dream. T: Yeah very nice. I still think John was the best looking not to mention the best dressed in this video. B: It’s the Speedos again! K: Eww! C: Yuck! T: All the chicks with the paint on them is interesting. Comments: K: What’s up with the scantily clad women? It’s not like they had a huge male following that would dig this. C: The crab on Roger is to funny. I like the colors in this video. B: the crab was stupid. K: Oh quit being such a crab! The phone part was rather funny, at least in my opinion. C: I rather liked the fishnet and bubbles. I want to catch a man in a fish net! K: It’s that female dominance thing again. B: Ooh, that raft part is neat, with the saxophonist. T: Speaking of neat, look at that ship! C: The color scheme and the clothes reminded me of Night At the Roxbury If they are going to snap at the end of the video, they need to snap together. K: I liked the ending, especially when they throw Andy over board. C: (jumping up) there’s an Andy in Duran Duran? K: Oh no. Torrey what did you think about the video? T: There was a video, I rather enjoyed watching John play Rambo! Sigh! Over all grade: B-
