Venus and Walnut are both located in the southwest corner of Knox County.  Knox County is located in northeast Nebraska.  Venus was named by Sylvannus Whitmore for the beauty of the countryside.  The post office here was open from August 9, 1880 until 1960.  The general store operatd from 1879 to 1979.  Remains today include the general store, a school, another old store and a methodist church.
There is a county road that goes due west out of Creighton Nebraska and goes to O'Neill.  Venus is located about 15 to 20 miles west of Creighton on this road.
Walnut was named for a grove of nearby walnut trees.  It had a post office from September 22, 1894 to 1956.  It was one of the first settlements in the county.  Today, the general store still stands along with an old style gas pump.  Walnut is about 2 miles east of Venus and about 5 or 6 miles north.
Bazile Mills is located about 3 miles north of Creighton, Nebraska in Knox County.  The town was built on Bazile Creek.  Two big mills were built here, a grist mill and the state's first woolen mill. The post office was established on January 10, 1879.  By 1900, Bazile Mills had reached its peak and had a population of 175.  But good times were not to be, and the town gradually faded away.  The post office was discontinued  in 1951.  Toady, there are a few original buildings here.
