Friday, March 5th, 2004 - Wait Up
God continues to reveal His truths to me through my recent struggle. Today, He showed me a little blip about patient endurance.
I read John 6, and verses 16-21 stuck out at me. This is John's account of Jesus walking on water. What I haven't noticed in the past is the disciples' actions beforehand. They are waiting by the shore for Jesus (He's up on the hills praying alone), and by nightfall, He still hasn't come down. So they load up the boats and push off without Him. A storm comes upon the sea and isn't calmed down until Jesus comes into the boat with them.
I am like the disciples. I try to be obedient by waiting on God, often on my own strength. When I get caught up in my own agenda and become impatient, I go in a direction which seems logical to me without God leading the way. Rough times and storms come my way, and they continue to stay (even though Jesus is there) until I finally turn to Him and let Him into my boat. God is continuing to instill in me a greater sense of patient obedience and helping me to take His perspective that I'm going to not only fail but also be against His will if I take off without Him leading the way.
