Saturday, May 8th, 2004 - Come Sail Away
Some might know that I'm a big fan of changing the lyrics to songs that I love to worship God through them, regardless of the content of the original lyrics. The classic rock radio station was on all night every night at the bakery that I worked at last summer, so I got a lot of practice at it then. One of my favorite classic rock worship songs is "Come Sail Away" originally by Styx - the lyrics don't need much tweaking, but here is my revamped version.
I'm sailing away
Set an open course where the Spirit leads
‘Cause I've got to be free
Free from sin and death, and the Enemy
Jesus, He’s the captain, so climb aboard
I'll search for His presence on every shore
And I'll try, oh Lord, I'll try to carry on
I look to the fields, the harvest is so ripe, and the world’s in need
Some content, some sad
I think of hardened hearts and the Love they lack
We live happily forever, so the story goes
But so many miss out on that pot of gold
But we'll go, empowered by Him, to share the Truth
A gathering of angels appeared above my head
They sang to me this song of hope, and this is what they said
They said come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me, God says
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
I knew that they were angels, and with them Jesus Christ
He reached out with His pierced hands and gave me paradise
And He says come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me, God says
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
