Monday, November 24th, 2003 - Miracles and Random Thoughts
I came home the weekend before Thanksgiving, counting on an extended break due to class cancellations this week. Right before I left, I found out that my very last class on Wednesday wasn't cancelled, and our professor had moved a test to that day. Reluctantly, I made plans to drive 4 hours up to Duluth and 4 hours back on Wednesday to take my test. Tonight, I got a call from my friend in Duluth, whom I was going to give a ride home after the test, and she explained that our professor had decided to cancel it after all. This amazing miracle is going to save me a lot of time and gas, and I'm so excited to see what God has planned for Wednesday instead.
Since being at home and also hanging out down around the La Crosse campus, I have realized something that God has been teaching me. He has been developing a stronger, more steadfast heart for prayer in me. Toward the beginning of this semester, I realized that God was starting to do this within me, but it wasn't until now that I saw how much He has been building it in me. When I'm talking with a friend, and they explain a struggle that they are facing, I've become more apt to request that we pray about it right then and there. I'm so thankful for this change; it was only possible through God's grace and Spirit.
I felt it upon my heart to attend "Live" yesterday, the Sunday morning meeting of my high school youth group. I talked to the group a little about my experience in that group and what I had learned about worship since being there. Perhaps the most important reason for my being there, however, was for my former youth pastor to ask me if I was interested in being a leader for the Districts youth conference trip (where I made the decision to follow Christ with my life 4 years ago). I was praying about it tonight, and God is putting it upon my heart to go, so I am excited about that.
I found a picture today that was taken quite awhile ago - my dad is asleep in a reclining chair, and my younger sister is curled up in a little ball, also asleep on his lap. If I had a scanner or knew somebody with one, I could show you the cutest picture ever, but I can't unfortunately.
I got an alternate side parking ticket in La Crosse a couple nights ago at 1:30 a.m. I thought that rule was only in effect from 2-6 a.m., like it is in Onalaska (my home town suburb), Duluth, and pretty much everywhere else I have ever heard of it. I called the number on the back of the ticket today only to find out that La Crosse does it 1-6 a.m. Geniusly, I didn't move my car last night until 1:45 a.m., but I was fortunate enough to not have received a ticket yet. I'm great at learning from mistakes... maybe not so much.
My friend Phil called the Washington Redskins the "Potomac River Basin Indigenous Persons" tonight, and I laughed for a really long time. It is still funny to me.
I love root beer, but I think they should change the name. The early worm gets eaten by the bird, so sleep in. What goes around comes around, so I guess she'll be going around the mountain when she goes. Don't play leapfrog with a unicorn. Staplers are fascinating. 3 nails + 1 cross = 4 given.
