The earliest Kellers were recorded as the 16th century residents of the city of Lahr, about 28 miles south of Neumuehl Germany. This is in southwest Germany at the edge of the Black Forest in the Rhein valley. Later descendents had moved north to the villages of Kork and Neumuehl.
As you may observe, most of my ancestors came from the same small region of Germany. Therein lies a most amazing coincidence. My father's mother Mary Schuler and her family (southern Illinois) came from Sundheim Germany. My mother's family (southern Indiana), Krieg, Rapp, and Keller all came from Neumuehl Germany. My mother and father both knew that their ancestors came from Germany but what they never knew was that these families lived in Germany about 3 miles apart!
