The 1970's!
What a decade!!!
It was during these years that Rocky started to really discover who he was! He knew he was different from all the other boys but it took him till he was around 13 before he really knew for sure.
During the early 70's his parents should have figured it out for sure he was gay. He had life size posters of David Cassidy, Bobby Sherman, and Donnie Osmond hanging on the inside of his closet. Yes Closet! You see that is where Rocky would escape to so he could be alone. He had is closet all set up like a small apt. He would disappear in there for hours writing in his diary, listening to music (now this was before walkmans so he would put a speaker in there with him. His parents never said anything about it. They would let him do it as long as he was behaving himself.
It was also during these years that he started clashing with his brother. He would try to push Rocky around. It could have been he knew he was different from Rocky and wanted to show he was the stonger of the 2.
When Rocky was around 13 he was in the Boy Scouts and during one of their weekend trips to Kentucky Lake, 2 of the boys dared him to sit in another boys lap (that boy was naked). So Rocky did! At that very moment Rocky knew for sure he was gay. Never had anything felt so good. All he did was sit there for prob not even a second but it felt right!
Then on one of the camping trips the Pack Leader, who was prob about 26 or so, was standing naked in his tent. Rocky was like, OMG that is what I want. He wanted to go over and touch it! His penis was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.
This was the same time too that Rocky actually got to touch another penis for the first time. At that time they were living far out in the country so his parents got his brother and him a babysitter in town. They did not want them staying way out of town all by themselves. The baby sitters brother was to cute. He would take showers and then come out with nothing but a towel on. Rocky can not remember excatly how it happen but this boy took his towel off and let Rocky play with it. MAN!!! That was it!! No turning back now! Rocky knew that he was Gay and could not wait to start doing something about it!!!
You say now how does someone at the age of 13 and 14 know this. Well he always knew he was different but never really knew what it was called. Then one night while watching the News out of Nashville, they were at a bar called the Cabert interviewing people about being GAY!! The reason they were there was there had been a demostartion that day in Nashville and they were covering it on the news. Now little did Rocky know but it was called Pride Day in Nashville. From that moment on he started calling himself Gay but only to himself.
Once he got to High School things were different. He was made fun of for being a little to sissyfied. They would call him Roxanne while walking down the hall. Then right in the middle of his Sophmore year his parents moved from the only town Rocky had lived in. He had to leave behind all the friends he had had his entire life. He now had to start all over again and make new friends. But by now Rocky did not feel comfortable making new friends.
How he made it through the rest of High School he will never know. He hated the new school. He made few friends but it was just not the same!!
During his Senior year he went to a New Years party for the incoming year 1980. That was the night he came out of his closet. It changed things forever!!
