Harriet Brubaker Tent No. 139 History

Harriet Brubaker Tent No. 139, Fostoria, Ohio, was instituted March 25, 1938, by the Ohio Department President Kathryn Heck, with 45 charter members. The Tent was organized by Kathryn Heck, Department Jr. Vice President Ida Billman, Department Chaplain Esther Schooler, and Department Treasurer Alma Dannenberg. Officers of Martha Isabelle Dunne Tent No. 106, Findlay, OH, and Mrs. Edward Tiffin Tent No. 20, Tiffin, OH were present for the institution. Tent No. 106 exemplified the Ritual. The Tent was named for Harriet Brubaker who was an army nurse from Ohio and who served during the Civil War. Sister Heck presented the new Tent with an altar cloth and Sister Dannenberg presented them with a Bible. Both members and Tent have received prizes for the larges gain in membership. They have bought war bonds, contributed to all department funds, blood plasma fund, and the Red Cross. Flags have been presented and a generous contribution made to the Disaster Unit and Clubmobile. Delegates are present at Department Conventions and members are elected and appointed to Deparment offices.
